Yoga 101: Poses for Beginners

New to yoga? Try these basic yoga poses to get stronger and more flexible.

Mountain Pose

  • Stand tall with feet together, shoulders relaxed, weight evenly distributed through your soles, arms at sides.
  • Take a deep breath and raise your hands overhead, palms facing each other with arms straight. Reach up toward the sky with your fingertips.

With this pose I would add activate your legs by flexing your quads and rolling your inner thighs inwards as if you're trying to despence and pez thru your thighs..also press down with the tripod of your feet, ball underneath you big toe pinky toe and heal. Lift your toes and then spread them apart and then set them back down. Lift up your torso and roll your shoulders back. Try to have your arms behind your ears and relax the tops of your shoulders and should blades down away from your ears.
