Do your shorts ride up when you run? The culprit is not always your rubbing thighs; it could be a small size or saggy inseam. Here's how to pick the best pair for you.
Q. Why do my shorts always ride up when I run?

A. Surprise! The culprit is not always your rubbing thighs; it could be a skimpy size or saggy inseam, says Danelle Fee, Asics apparel brand manager. "Either the leg openings of your shorts are too small or the rise -- the length from waistband to crotch -- is too long," she says. "Both lead to bunching." In the fitting room, first check that there's no more than an inch and a half of extra length in the crotch; then lift one leg up to hip level. "If the shorts feel tight across the top of the thigh or across the butt, try a larger size or a different style," Fee says.
