The Drop a Jeans Size Workout

Drop a Jeans Size Workout
Jay Sullivan
The muffin top stops here! Find your dream denim and fit into it fast with our targeted toning exercises and fat-melting cardio plans. This plan is designed to slim you all over but especially targets your abs, butt and thighs.

How It Works

"Your muscles are made up of thousands of fibers," says trainer Brad Schoenfeld, author of the soon-to-be-released Women's Home Workout Bible, who developed the program exclusively for FITNESS. "A regular squat might call into play 70 percent of the fibers in your derriere, then a side lunge might tone 10 percent more. Do the 10 moves in this sculpting routine and you'll work 100 percent of those fibers."

Part 1: Toning
Do two sets of these toning exercises twice a week -- take a day off in between workouts.

What You'll Need: A set of 3- to 8-pound dumbbells and a stability ball (or a bench)

Part 2: Cardio
Do our simple, trimming cardio sessions (found in the last few slides of this workout) three times a week to downsize your denim in 28 days.

Get More with the Complete Plan!
With the full Drop a Jeans Size plan you'll get your weekly meal plans, extra-credit workouts, customized playlists, and more sent right to your e-mail inbox. You can also track your progress, log your workouts and meals, and connect with others on this plan. You can even invite your friends to do the plan with you!

Very good information, but choosing a suitable exercise is difficult. Instead I follow a complete reference system from Flavia del Monte. She is a fitness and nutrition expert. With her book you have everything under a single cover. I am following it very strictly since one month and I have already seen the very positive results. I am now healthier, fitter, skinnier than ever. I feel very feminine and sexy as well. Thanks Flavia! You may reach the system under : www.flaviafitness.info

Does this article really need to be accompanied by a picture of a woman who doesn't need to drop a jeans size, and could arguably need to ADD a size? This is just silly. You don't have to use a 300-pound woman, but one who's a little more past 100 pounds would be better.

I had a motorcycle accident 9 years ago, and I still ambulate with a cane. How can I do any cardio to lose weight? I gained it from being in a coma, and being stuck in a wheelchair for months!

What happens if 1 has a disability, walks with a cane, cannot run on the treadmill, but walks for 1/2 an hour; how would they complete their cardio requirements to lose weight?

I also have had a broken ankle that cannot have stress on it or I will not be able to walk for a week! I also have DDD of the spine and arthritis all over my body. I need some sort of modified exercise plan for physical limitations.

ccedwards - try mat pilates. It is non weightbearing. So you will not have any impact. Pilates tones, and lengthens. While mat pilates does not provide cardio, it will keep your muscles flexible....making your stronger over time.

Pilates!!!!! That is your answer. I swear by it. I had extensive abdominal surgery last summer. Stressed that I couldn't do any exercise, I did some basic Pilates while lying in my hospital bed!!! It is so gentle and yet can be so challenging as you progress. My core is in fantastic shape and doctors were amazed at my speedy recovery. Good luck!

I had extensive surgury on my ankle, broke both bones, last April. Spent 3 months in wheelchair and can walk. However I'm still limited in the amount of weight and movement. I gain weight and am losing it, but cannot do exercises that put too much pressure on my asnkle yet.
