-Hey guys welcome to Pursebuzz, I'm here with Tarek, a Lancôme makeup artist, so, we're gonna ask him what the trends are and then ask him how he got started in the business. How are you doing today?
-Hi, how are you? I'm doing really well. Basically, I started long time ago, 22 years with makeup.
I love colors. I love fashion industry. I am-- I study from design and when I came to United States all my respect to makeup and fashion, I decided to work with the makeup and I work since then with a lot of fashion shows and photo shots, and here I am now in Lancôme national makeup artist. I do the North East and as well as the North.
-Okay, how long have you been with Lancôme?
-With Lancôme, actually this is
my 11th year.
-Wow.
-Yeah.
-11 years, that's wonderful. Well congratulations on that.
-Thank you very much.
-So tell me, okay, how do you feel about fashion week this year?
-It's actually really exciting. We do on some tomorrow with Chris Benz and it's really exciting to see all the new looks and fashion and makeup. It's always exciting to come to this time of the year because this is our passion and so.
-So, I'm gonna ask you a hard question because every year, there is fashion, but it always comes back like cycles.
Do you ever kinda get tired of the same smokey eyes?
-There is no way that you can get tired of looking smokey and beautiful, no absolutely not. There is always ways of doing smokey. You could be smokey and natural at the same time. You could be smokey and dramatic. Smokey, it doesn't mean always has to be to the-- to go out. It could be natural and blended and beautiful as well. It does not have to be something that you could be tired of. I never-- I'm never tired of doing
smokey eyes. As a makeup artist you have to play. You always have to play. You create all these new technique and Lancôme has an incredible color to work and play with all the time, so we have the variety.
-Well what are your top 5 favorite Lancôme products?
-Mascara.
-Which one?
-The Hypnose Drama.
-I have one.
-That's my favorite--
-Yes.
-as well as my favorite mascara is Definicils Precious Cells.
-Really? That's the not the primer right? That's the regular-- the regular mascara?
-This is the one that actually-- it does not allow your lashes to break or actually get looped, it's a treatment at the same time. It's a mascara that has treatment, but it is a beautiful mascara to use as well. And my other favorite product as well as the new Soft palette shadows, which is what I work with today. This is fabulous.
-Really, I have the purple one on it.
-Oh you do. This is an incredible shadow. We actually use the
Coral Crush color, it's a great palette and I love also the new collection that we have with the purple for the spring--
-Oh yeah.
-I love them. Yes I love that with the [unk].
-So, you are a very successful makeup artist, you are doing this with Lancôme. For those who are like inspired to be a makeup artist, like what kind of tips could you give them so that they can get to where you are at?
-Go all the way. Always play with colors with makeup and whatever you play with,
with the makeup is that always and everyday you open a new page with colors, with beauty. There is nothing-- no way to stop. You have-- the best way to do makeup is to keep playing with it and mix colors. I always mix colored with lips. I always mix colors with the eye because you always creat your own color collection as well with that. I love mixing.
-Well thank you so much, can you-- we're gonna ask one question, what is your favorite tip that you'd like to share with us?
-Well actually I did share today my favorite tip that's the blush, when you wanted to play blush, always make sure that you blend it really well and never apply it under the nose, just stay above because everybody walking out with blushes, most of the time goes down--
-Oh yeah.
-and you'll see that, it kinda brings your face down. We need the cheeks to be lifted. So, I always like to be going with the tip of the nose and to go to the above.
-That's a great tip, I haven't heard that.
