The FITNESS 2011 Healthy Food Awards

When the munchies strike, dig in to one of these best bites. We worked with top nutritionists to find hundreds of sweet, salty, and savory treats that are low in calories and fat. Then we crunched our way through them to bring you the best-tasting options to satisfy any craving -- and still keep you slim.
The Healthiest Snacks from the Store

How We Selected the Winners

Hundreds of companies submitted more than 1,000 healthy snacks to FITNESS. Those foods that were low in calories, fat, saturated fat, sodium, and added sugars made the first cut. Nutritionists Allidina, Gans, and Lippert then sorted through the more than 850 remaining products, analyzing the nutrition facts and ingredient labels to help us determine which ones deserved to move to the next round for taste tasting. The finalists were sampled and voted on by dozens of staffers throughout our company.

Meet Our Experts
