Let’s face it: Not all of us can afford to go out and drop tons of money on a new wardrobe every season. But that doesn’t mean we still can’t be trendy and up-to-date with the latest fashions, right? Right. We just have to be selective with our purchases and make sure that we buy pieces that can be versatile and worn from day-to-night and for different occasions.
One of the easiest ways to mixup your wardrobe is to mix and match tops and bottoms. I am a huge jean lover, but sometimes jeans just don’t cut it, which is why I love these J. Crew army green utility pants (or these cheapy pairs from Forever 21 and H&M!) . They are causal enough to run your errands in on the weekend with a slouchy sweater and a pair of kicks, or they can be dressed up with a sexy top and a pair of heels for date night with your hubby or a fun girls night out. What’s better than two for the price of one?! How about three for the price of one, when you factor in pairing these pants with a blazer or a button down and a pair of loafers for work. Genius! See, three outfits, one pair of pants—like music to my ears.
For styling tips to capture each look perfectly,
- For the office: Nontraditional blazers are always a great way to look professional without being too stuffy. This TopShop blazer is light and airy and I love the way the cream color looks with the green. Pair it with a fun printed flat, like this Steven by Steve Madden leopard print loafer and a cool bracelet like this Wet Seal charm bracelet, to add some flair to your look! And a great black structured handbag, like the Elliot Lucca bag that is featured, keeps the look totally chic.
- For the weekend: Just because you are running errands on the weekend doesn’t mean you have to look like you just rolled out of bed. Instead of throwing on an old sweatshirt from your college years, try finding a comfy sweater that is casual but still put together, like this one from Madewell. Accessorize by rocking a cool pair of kicks like the red Converse, a chunky necklace (that can be dressed up or down!) like this one from Henri Bendel, and a grab-and-go handbag, like this one from Forever21.
- For date night: Date nights are supposed to be special, so whether you are dining at your favorite restaurant, heading to the movies, or dancing the night away, you want to look the part! A sparkly top, like the one from Vince, is great for evening and adds some texture to the boyish looking pants. A cute clutch like the Diane von Furstenberg polka dotted one, and sexy shoes like these Pour La Victoire heels, are a must, along with some eye catching jewels, like these awesome House of Harlow 1960 earrings.
