Great friends are hard to come by, so when we came across The Fit Bottomed Girls, we were wowed by how they managed to make their friendship work for their — and their readers’ — fitness. This dynamic duo believes that fitness should be fun, a mantra that we at FITNESS live by. Here’s what they had to say about embarassing workout songs, fitness icons and what really motivates them.
On my fit life list:
Jenn Walters: I’d like to run a triathlon, backpack in the Tetons, work out with one of my fitness icons (like Bob Harper, Jillian Michaels or Gwen Stefani), run a sub 7-minute mile, write a series of books based on the Fit Bottomed Girls’ mindset and lifestyle, and be a healthy mother.
Erin Whitehead: Two activities I want to do but haven’t had the guts yet: Try a rock-climbing wall and take a trapeze class! I’d also love to hike Half Dome in Yosemite.
My biggest indulgence:
Jenn: Wine and chocolate — preferably together.
Erin: A margarita! And the occasional Snickers Ice Cream bar or a mint chocolate chip ice cream cone.
Most embarrassing song I’ll admit I work out to:
Jenn: Oh, there are so many. Lately, “Piece of Me” by Britney Spears.
Erin: I’ll admit: “The Call” by Backstreet Boys. You said embarrassing.
My “I Did It” moment:
Jenn: A little more than a year ago I ran a marathon. HUGE “I Did It’ moment for me. When I was younger, I never considered myself a runner!
Erin: I shocked myself by being able to do crow pose, which I had thought was the yoga impossible. I’m now working on getting back there after the birth of my daughter.
My motivation comes from:
Jenn: Our readers. They inspire me to live every day with a lust for life. So many are proof that we’re only limited by what we think we can or cannot accomplish. Switch your thinking to positivity and gratitude for what you have and you can live your dreams –whether they’re fitness or not!
Erin: My 6-month-old daughter. She’s a constant reminder that I’m setting an example with the choices I make every day, so I try to make them good ones. (Ed’s note: they even started a sister site, Fit Bottomed Mamas for new moms and their families!)
