Jealous of Jen, much? With her year-round glow and killer body, it’s obvious why women (and men) swoon over her. Case in point: the pics that recently surfaced of the star vacationing in Mexico with her beau Justin Theroux: At 45, Aniston looks better and fitter than ever. And though many things have changed throughout the years (say, haircuts for example), one thing has remained the same: her respect for a solid skincare routine, including products by Aveeno. As the company’s ambassador, she recently narrated a series of short videos celebrating ingredients found in nature, highlighting their farm-to-formulation journey and how these actives can enhance your own natural beauty. We stole a few minutes with Aniston to chat about her involvement in the project and how she manages to look better and better as the years go by.
What drew you to becoming a brand ambassador for Aveeno?
“Well, it was just so organic and I’ve used Aveeno since I was in high school and so it just seemed like a really organic and easy relationship.”
Tell me a little bit about the “Beauty of Nature” project and why you wanted to be involved?
“Well, being a part of the Aveeno family, it was kind of the obvious go-to to have me narrate it and I wanted to do it because I thought it was an interesting element for the consumer to understand what goes in and how much detail is put into their products and how natural all of it is.”
Speaking of natural, everyone loves your effortless, natural look. How do you pull it off from a beauty perspective?
“Oh my gosh, well I use so many different things. The main thing that helps with that is a lot of hydration, obviously, and simple, natural products. Also, being very careful about what you eat because all of that reflects. It’s the old saying, ‘You are what you eat.’ I think it’s reflected in your skin.”
So our readers really want to know, how do you stay in shape?
“You know, I try to mix it up. I want to try Crossfit, I’m terrified of it, though. It’s very intense; very intimidating. I basically do a combination of three: I usually do my spin bike, I run and I do an elliptical—usually 15 minutes on each machine. And then I’ll do, if I have the luxury of time, about a half hour of yoga. Or I just do yoga and then there’s other times when I’ll do strength-training and that’s pretty intense. It’s kind of, what I would imagine, like a Crossfit, but it’s just basically working every part of your body against its own weight.”
Got it. So you like to switch it up?
“Yeah, because you can get bored doing the same thing. And I also think it’s really good taking a break once in a while from working out.”
We know you travel a lot for work. How do you manage to fit in time to exercise on the road?
“I just make the time. I just get up that extra hour and get it in there. It’s just such a game changer on your mood for the day. So I’ll make myself do it, but if I get down to the gym, I get down to the gym. Or if I bring my bands, you can do a lot of stuff in your room.”
Do you have any healthy eating strategies for when you’re traveling or if you’re on set?
“Oh, just a healthy, grilled clean protein and vegetables, of course. It’s pretty basic. I try to stay as light on oil as you can and salt, obviously, and no sugars.”
We always suggest packing healthy snacks in your bag so you have no excuses. Do you have any healthy snacks that you keep around?
“I do. I always have an apple with me and I have some walnuts for protein. And I sometimes throw a little protein bar in my bag.”

The sunny months of summer are slowly dwindling down (wah!), and though we’ll miss our weekly escapes to the beach, we certainly won’t miss the frizz, sweat and slip-right-off-your-face makeup that comes along with them. So just in time for the last big weekend of the season, make sure your look stays put with these easy long-wear tips.
Go Prime Time:
While this step is more-often-than-not overlooked in most beauty routines, it’s an essential way to lock your makeup in place for a flawless finish. Apply a face primer in areas where excess oil develops throughout the day such as your T-zone. Smashbox Photo Finish More Than Primer Blemish Control ($42, sephora.com) tackles two issues at once: it makes sure your makeup has heat-proof longevity and helps banish any breakouts thanks to its salicylic-laced formula.
Next step, no creases! When you want to avoid that icky line of caked shadow on your lids, start with an eye shadow primer like cult favorite Urban Decay Cosmetics Original Primer Potion ($19, urbandecay.com). This makes shadow appear more vibrant and promises 24-plus hour wear. FITNESS’ associate beauty editor Molly swears by the shade Eden.
When the heat is on, skip the full coverage foundation and opt for a lighter version like a BB or CC cream that has skin-boosting benefits such as smoothing your complexion and adding instant radiance. Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream Hydrating Colour Corrector Broad Spectrum SPF 30 ($35, clinique.com) is lightweight and oil-free, but still manages to mask imperfections. Plus, it protects skin with a broad-spectrum sunscreen.
Gel With It:
Pack away your powder blushes and choose a cream or gel consistency. They tend to last longer and offer a natural pop of color. Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelée in Poppy Paradise ($24, sephora.com) gives your cheeks a pretty, dewy flush, and it lasts for up to 14 hours! It’s infused with 50% coconut water, so it feels nice and cool on those really hot days.
Locking your makeup in place is a step you can’t skip. While some setting powders cause skin to look dry and cakey, Nars Light Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder ($34, sephora.com) does just the opposite. It regulates shine while still looking radiant.
Minimalism is key when it comes to eye makeup. Most times, a subtle winged look is all you need to feel pretty and polished, but the last thing you want is for your wing to go droopy. With Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner ($20, sephora.com) your look will stay sleek and smudge-proof for hours. We love the Cobalt shade!
Everyone dreads removing tough-to-budge waterproof mascaras. However, with the threat of raccoon eyes induced by sweat or a quick plunge in the pool looming, long-wear formulas are a must for keeping eye makeup in tact. Maybelline Volum’ Express The Rocket Waterproof Mascara ($8, ulta.com) lengthens lashes and adds insane volume without running down your face mid-day.
When it comes to lips, keep it sheer. Try Dior Addict Lipstick in 643 Diablotine ($31, dior.com). The sheer poppy red gives a gorgeous wash of color without being too overwhelming. Lightly blot this on your lips and apply a lip balm like Nivea Lip Butter in Vanilla Macadamia ($4, target.com) over for amped-up hydration.
Take It Off:
When the end of the dog day rolls around, reach for Almay Longwear & Waterproof Gentle Eye Makeup Remover ($7, ulta.com). This stuff instantly sweeps away hard-to-remove makeup without leaving the sensitive eye area irritated.
You’ve got the tips. Now, get inspired with these budge-proof summer makeup combos.

Earlier this month, we reported that a woman spends more than $150,000 on beauty over the course of her life. We asked FITNESS editors what beauty product or treatment they spend the most cash on.
- “On a college student’s budget, manicures/pedicures can be seen as a splurge, but nothing beats a nice foot massage after a tough exam or deadline crunch! Looking down at a coat of fresh polish simply puts a spring in my step, which makes it worth every penny.” —Lauren Cardarelli, editorial intern
- “Definitely a facial! My skin never looks better for days upon days after getting one. And it’s the most noticeable part of your body, so why not give it the extra TLC. It’s like going in for a dentist checkup for me: Your face needs the same checkup as well.” —Jenna Autuori, fitness editor
- “My beauty splurge is Benefit lipsticks. I hate the feeling of sticky lipgloss, and regular lipstick can be too dry. But Benefit’s lipsticks give glossy moisture and color all at once! Totally worth the cost.” —Alyson Kaufman, sittings intern
- “My biggest beauty splurge is my haircut. There are definitely cheaper options available, but I’m willing to spend more because I have complete trust in my stylist who knows exactly what I want: A cut that makes my thick hair manageable and looks great air-dried. I’ve had way too many disappointing haircuts with other stylists to ever dare going somewhere else!” —Marianne Magno, assistant web editor

At a meeting last week, a few FITNESS editors got into a conversation about how they organize their beauty stash at home. Here’s a peek at how I store the plethora of beauty products in my bathroom (please excuse my sub-par cell phone photography skills!). When apartment-hunting last year, one of the reasons I loved the place we ended up renting was because of this cabinet of shelves in the bathroom—I knew it would make the perfect home for my beauty arsenal! As you can see, I use a mix of bowls and baskets that I’ve collected to house specific categories of products. Here’s the layout, starting at the bottom, moving from left to right: Nail polishes, makeup; second shelf: daily face products, fragrance, and face treatments; third shelf: hair products, miscellaneous; fourth shelf: bath and my boyfriend’s grooming stash.

How much money would you guess that you spend on beauty products and treatments? A new study commissioned by Bionsen deodorant found that the average woman shells out $164,248 (roughly $3,273 per adult year) on beauty over the course of her life—enough to buy a home (in some places) or pay for an Ivy League education!
Tell us: Do you think you spend that much money on beauty? And if so, is it worth it to you?

-FITNESS: What made you want to get involved with Merck/Coppertone’s World’s Largest Swimming Lesson?

-FITNESS: What’s your proudest fitness-related achievement? Why?
SS: “The New York Marathon in 2002 because I soaked up every ounce of energy from my fellow competitors and the thousands of people who came out to cheer us on.”

We recently chatted with country singer Faith Hill about her newest fragrance, Faith Hill True, her favorite beauty products and tricks for on-the-go, and her stay-in-shape secrets. The scoop:
FITNESS: How does your new fragrance, True, differ from your first fragrance?
FAITH HILL: “My first fragrance had several notes in it that reminded me of growing up in Mississippi, such as magnolia. I wanted to keep this one fresh and clean and current…I really liked the yuzu, lily and gardenia notes.”
FITNESS: What kind of woman is True made for?
FAITH HILL: “It’s made for every woman. Whether you work in your home, outside of your home, in sweats or a suit, everyone can wear it. I wanted the fragrance to appeal to all women.”
FITNESS: How and when do you wear fragrance? What’s the best way to wear it?
FAITH HILL: “I wear fragrances every day. It’s like a part of my outfit. I wear it with sweats, casual or dressed to go out. It completes my outfit.”
FITNESS: How do you take care of your skin and hair on-the-go?
FAITH HILL: “I try to keep my skin clean and moisturized. On my hair, I use a leave-in conditioner most of the time when I’m not working. I also drink lots of water.”
FITNESS: How do you keep yourself in shape with your busy lifestyle and while you’re on the road?
FAITH HILL: “I have to schedule workout time or I simply will find an excuse to not workout. I’m doing the Tracy Anderson method right now and I love it. I don’t get bored as easily because of all the movement involved in her program.”
FITNESS: What are your favorite beauty products for after your workout and for carrying with you when you’re on-the-go?
FAITH HILL: “I always clean my face after my workout. I use Obagi cleanser and sunscreen. When I travel, I do the same treatment, just with more moisturizer and I drink loads of water.”
FITNESS: What workouts do you do regularly?
FAITH HILL: “I used to run, however, now I enjoy a brisk walk for 2-3 miles, in addition to the Tracy Anderson method.”
Faith shares her workout playlist in the Fit Life section of our January issue, out next week!
