Describe your beauty style in three words or less: Simple and sporty.
What are the three beauty products you can’t live without? Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash, Scunci No-Slip Evolution Hair Ties and a hair wrap towel (similar to the Turbie Twist)!
What’s your beauty routine in the morning? First, I pop in my contacts, floss and brush teeth (in that order, and Crest Pro-Health Toothpaste is my favorite brand) and wash my face again with Neutrogena. If I’m feeling extra low-maintenance or it’s supposed to be super-hot, I just curl my eyelashes for a bright-eyed look and call that good. For a more polished look, I dot on concealer where needed, add a touch of foundation, eye shadow, eyeliner and blush. And I always spritz on a little Burberry London Eau de Parfum.
At night? After walking around a lot and occasionally doing evening workouts, I often shower at night. I put my hair up in my towel to help it dry, brush my teeth and blow dry the rest before bed after winding down with a book. My stylist always gives me a dry-and-go cut so I can just wake up and hit the streets!
Post-workout? If I have time, I hop in the shower, but I’m also not ashamed to admit that I’ve mastered the shower-free refresh: Towel off, wash face, change clothes, add deodorant and perfume and revel in the post-workout rosy-cheeked glow!
What beauty product or treatment instantly makes you feel good? A pedicure! I walk all over the city and the sandals I rotate through during summer aren’t the most protective (or supportive, sadly). Not to mention how hard I beat my feet up in the gym! So treating them well always feels amazing.
What’s the best beauty tip you’ve ever received (or thought of yourself)? Conditioner is a perfect swap for shaving cream. It keeps your skin silky smooth and glides right through the razor blades.

Staffer Beauty Snoop: Art Intern Abby Silverman

Written on July 27, 2011 at 7:24 am , by

For the first installment in our new Staffer Beauty Snoop series, we asked art department intern Abby Silverman to spill the beauty products, tips, and tricks that she can’t live without. Here’s what she said:

Describe your beauty style in three words or less: “Trendy, bold, glamorous.”
What are the three beauty products you can’t live without? MAC Cosmetics Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15, Marc Jacobs Lola Perfume and Maybelline New York Colossal Volum’ Express Mascara.”
What’s your beauty routine in the morning? “When I get of the shower I always brush my teeth and apply moisturizer to my face and body. Then I do my hair, and last, I apply my makeup.”
At night? “I use Neutrogena Deep Clean Makeup Remover Wipes for my face as well as Neutrogena Eye Makeup Remover with cotton balls to remove eye makeup. I follow with a face wash and finish off with Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer.”
Post-workout? “I typically wash my face before I work out because I like to feel refreshed and ready to go. If I don’t wash my face pre-exercise, I always wash it after because I don’t like leaving sweat and makeup on my skin.”
What beauty product or treatment instantly makes you feel good? “I absolutely love getting my nails done. When I look down at my hands and see perfectly polished nails it makes me feel girly, clean and put together! When I don’t get my nails done, I have a secret obsession with painting my nails. I probably paint them every other day.”
What’s the best beauty tip you’ve ever received (or thought of yourself)? “If you’re trying to grow your hair out, it’s better to get it regular trims every two to three months rather than waiting to get it cut every six months. If you don’t cut your hair, it will cut itself!”

What Beauty Product Never Leaves Your Gym Bag?

Written on July 6, 2011 at 9:35 am , by

We took a Spin class last week with fellow FITNESS editors, which made us wonder what beauty goods they tote along with them. Here’s the one product that never leaves these FITNESS ladies’ gym bags: 101735938

  • “Lip balm! My lips tend to get dry during my workout, so lip balm keeps them kissable. I love Burt’s Bees Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil- it smells delicious!” —Theresa K. Brady, editorial intern
  • La Fresh Instant Body Soother Wipes—they’re the perfect way to cool off and freshen up right after a workout. I wipe one over my neck, face, and shoulders for a quick pick-me-up, and keep a stash in my purse for sticky summer days.”—Colleen Moody, web editor
  • Neutrogena Deep Clean Sport On-the-Go Cleansing Wipes take up no space in my gym bag, thanks to individual packets. I use one wipe before and one after my workouts.”—Amanda Downs, beauty intern
  • “Face moisturizer—gyms usually have body lotion, but not the good stuff for your face! It also helps with clearing off any leftover eyeliner if the shower didn’t do the trick.”—Mary Anderson, deputy editor
  • “I can’t head to the gym without my Dove Clinical Protection Visibly Smooth Antiperspirant/Deodorant Solid in Wild Rose. It keeps me smelling fresh without the clumpy residue.”—Lauren Cardarelli, editorial intern
  • “My face lotion! After a sweaty SoulCycle session, I always need to jump in the shower and rinse off. I don’t go anywhere without my La Roche-Posay face lotion with SPF. It’s smooth, light, and comes in a nice travel size. “—Jenna Autuori, fitness editor

Favorite Find Friday: Neutrogena Deep Clean Sport

Written on October 1, 2010 at 8:58 am , by

Deep-Clean-Sport-Facial-Cleanser-lgFrom makeup remover to acne wash, it takes a small army of cleansers to freshen my face before bed. For years, I’ve been searching for a face wash that can do it all while still protecting my sensitive skin. After hearing Features Assistant Editor Sarah D’Angelo rave about Neutrogena Deep Clean Sport Facial Cleanser ($6.99, drugstores), I decided to give it a shot. The tingling wash took off grime and makeup, but wasn’t harsh. Plus, it contains salicylic acid to keep blemishes at bay, and the leak-proof packaging is perfect for my gym bag. So long, three-step cleansing routine!
