Pretty Hair
Retire your dryer. "Get a haircut that works with your natural texture and you'll never have to blow-dry it," says Nunzio Saviano, a stylist at the Oscar Blandi Salon in New York City. Give curls lots of layers, since blow-drying can stir up frizz; give a straight style fringed ends.
Condition like crazy. Slick on a leave-in cream instead of a gel before pulling hair back into a low bun -- you'll nourish and protect strands all day, says Edward Tricomi, cofounder of the Warren-Tricomi salons in New York City and Los Angeles.
Style while you snooze. Braid damp locks before bed, suggests Saviano, and you'll wake up to sexy, no-fuss, naturally dried waves. In the a.m., rub a quarter-size amount of a styling cream into your palms, then twist to coat strands.
Get insta-waves. Skip the blow-dryer and mix a cup of warm water with a half cup of salt, pour the brew into a spray bottle, and mist it all over your head to create tousled waves when you can't get to the beach, says Jet Rhys, a salon owner in San Diego.
Request skinny streaks. Some girls just can't give up their multicolored shade no matter what the season. "A few very fine highlights around the hairline will look natural and grow out effortlessly, so you don't need constant touch-ups," explains colorist Joel Warren of the Warren-Tricomi salons in New York City and Los Angeles.
