How can I tell if I've pulled a muscle?

"Pulling a muscle is the result of overexertion during exercise," says FITNESS advisory board member Len Kravitz, Ph.D. "You'll feel extremely sore in one area and have restricted movement due to pain from tiny muscle tears. Immediately treat the injury with ice, elevation and rest. Warm showers will help reduce pain until it's gone -- about two weeks."
