Do juice fasts work?

Can a juice fast help me lose weight?
Submitted by FitnessEditor

Not for long. Skimping on calories -- you take in as few as 900 calories a day on one popular fast -- can slow your metabolism; so can an inadequate consumption of protein, because it causes muscle loss. Plus, you'll gain weight immediately when you start eating normally, says Ellie Krieger, R.D., host of the Cooking Channel's Healthy Appetite.

Forget fad regime programs approved by celebrities who push you to starve yourself. Including natural and healthy drinks in your daily regime is much more effective. juice can help you lose those extra pounds. When you embed fresh drinks or soups in your normal daily regime and lifestyle; you feel and look better. Unwanted pounds will dissolve away. for more information http://www.bestjuicedietrecipes.com/juice-diet-recipes/

Yes, but you still have to learn how to maintain proper weight otherwise it will not last.

I'd also like to add that the reason ppl gain back the weight is because if you are for example 180lbs ur eating habits r designed to maintain that weight. so if u juice fast for 30 days and go down to 150 and then go back to your regular eating habits that r designed to maintain a 180 lb body you'll obviously gain weight. If you start a program like weightwatchers or myfitnesspal right after and stay on it for 2-3 months it will train you to eat for your new weight and you'll be fine.

They do work. I started off at 236lbs. I'm down to 140. I did many restrictive diets where I lost 10lbs within a week. Some of which include a juice fast, the special k diet, 500 calories a day, the cabbage soup diet, and no carbs. I NEVER and I mean NEVER gained back even one lb. And I had periods in between where I ate my normal pizza chocolate pasta bread etc for 3-6 months at a time between diets. I barely work out so I'm assuming my metabolism is fine.

Hi, Juice Fast plan is one of effective ways for cleansing. Vegetables are full of minerals, vitamins, minerals, full of chlorophyll and amino acids that speed the body's cell restoration, contributing to weight-loss and strengthen the defense mechanisms. Juices are easy to process, easily consumed in the bowel, causing fluid to drink a lot - is healthy and of itself. During the fruit juice diet we consume a lot of fruits and veggies - more than can be consumed by eating.

I agree with the editor its not a long term diet. But I also agree with posters saying how wonderful juicing is. I vote for juicing being a great addition to a diet. Reducing fruits and veggies down to just their nutrients (less fiber) really packs a feel good punch. Now if they could just invent a juicer that cleans itself, lol.

Hemp protein is a form of protein found in the hemp plant. If you are looking for a hemp protein recipe, maybe this will help you. There are a lot of different recipes that you can choose from. One of the recipes that you can make is hemp protein bars. These bars have protein in them and taste sweet. You can eat them for a snack or after you workout.

Hi, You will lose weight on a Vegan juice fast and as long as you are getting a wide variety of colorful fruits and veggies, you will feel AMAZING!!!!! Yes you will see a difference in how you look as well. Though, when you go off the juice fast, be sure to do it gradually. You don't want to go crazy because you will quickly gain back everything.Slowly start to reintroduce whole fruits and veggies and try to stay with a raw vegan diet to maintain.

What about substituting a juice or smoothie for breakfast or lunch? With a blend of fruits, veggies, and protein supplement could that be a good way to lose weight. http://www.nutritionfix.com/protein/shakes/nature-s-best-perfect-natural-vanilla-3lb.html

yes but heres the difference-- Juicing raw fruits and veggies yourself and drinking 90 oz or more of fresh juice daily is enough calories to not be starving on. breakfast- 1 head kale, 1 bag carrots, 4 oranges, 4 apples, 1 head celery juiced and then add to blender with 2 cups frozen berries is about 500 calories and about 40 oz of liquid. Times that by 3 and you are super full all day. For lunch try more veggies maybe sweet potatoe, spinach pineapple, cucumber and celery and then take jucie and blend with a little ice. Dinner try making yourown v8 juice and doing tomatoes, celery, kale, garlic, maybe ginger, cucmber, celery try not to do too much fruit in evening. Do this 60 days in addition to drinking lots of water you will loose probably 30-60 pounds and heal self of any disease.

The fast for around 10 days is great to clean your body and it also makes you realized how much harm you are doing to yourself by eating junk food, drinking (diet) sodas, sweets, fast food, etc. That way, you stay in a healthy diet and won't gain the weight. off course, with any diet, if you start eating the bad food you will gain the weight back (you don't need to be a scientific to know that, it is obvious). I recommend watching the documentary "Fat sick and nearly dead" and check videos in u tube about McDonalds, sodas, artificial sweeteners, etc that are killing you.

There's actually a booklet called The Master Cleanse. You can pick it up at Barnes and Noble. It's difficult to stick to unless you have no one else to cook for. But I've known people, my brother-in-law and a friend who both lost 25 lbs but stayed on it for a month! Ease back into real food. Stay clean!

There is a very popular diet, the Maple Syrup Diet, and you mix fresh lemon juice, distilled water, cayenne pepper and PURE maple syrup. Drink it whenever you feel hungry. Spicy foods boost your metabolism, and if you don't mind spicy foods, it's kinda tasty! If you are truly overweight, you can loose up to 10 pounds a day, but make sure to measure your weight in the morning, because sleep helps you loose weight. If you eat healthy and excersise afterwards, you won't gain the weight back.

to help lose weight-probably. for long term weight loss probably not. unless you plan to be incompacitated and won't be engaging in any type of physical manual labor. its probably not a good idea to do this for more than a few days.
