Lindsey Vonn Opens Up About Body Confidence in Refreshingly Honest Interview

Lindsey Vonn may be the most recognizable face in the world of skiing, but just like many of us, she has also struggled with her fair share of body image issues.

"I'm really confident on the mountain, but I haven't really felt like I fit in so much on the red carpets,'' Vonn told TODAY host, Matt Lauer on Tuesday. "I'm just not your typical body type, so I have insecurities. I'm very self-conscious."

She opened up and got real about her self-acceptance issues while talking about her new book, Strong Is the New Beautiful: Embrace Your Natural Beauty, Eat Clean and Harness Your Power.

"I think I'm strong when it comes to working out, and everything I do on the mountain I feel confident in myself, but a lot of times I really don't feel that confident,'' she said. "I have my insecurities like everyone else, and being on the mountain is the only time I feel 100 percent sure of myself."

Even though the road to feeling confident has been difficult, the four-time World Cup champion feels like she's slowly getting to a better place.

"It's always been pretty tough for me but I finally feel like I'm getting better at it,'' she said.
