Upgrade Your Banana Smoothie with Dates, Kefir, and Spinach

It's time to retire that sad spinach smoothie for this flavorful and nutrient-packed version with banana, dates, and kefir milk. Sure, you know bananas are great for recovery, but dates are also high in potassium, which is why they're a favorite post-workout snack among personal trainers. Plus, they add a sweet kick. (This green smoothie with pineapple and moringa powder and aloe juice is another must-blend.)

And if you haven't tried kefir milk, you're going to want to gulp it down once you hear about the health benefits: It contains many strains of bacteria and yeasts, making it a rich and diverse source of probiotics, the healthy gut bacteria that aids in digestion and boosts immunity. It's also a great source of phosphorous and calcium, both of which are crucial minerals for bone health, as Keri Gans, R.D. told us in The Health Benefits of Kefir. Ready to whip up this tasty banana, date, and kefir smoothie for yourself?

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana, sliced
  • 2 dates, pitted and chopped
  • 2 tbs walnuts
  • 1 cup spinach, packed
  • 1 cup kefir milk

Directions:
1. Add kefir milk to the blender first, followed by the rest of the ingredients. Blend until smooth.

2. Garnish with walnuts and enjoy!
