The Honey Cream Smoothie Recipe Inspired By the Flavors of Hawaii

With the promise of a burst of energy and delicious flavor, the perfect smoothie is at your fingertips. And no, it won't cost you $10 at your local juicery. Marcel Vigneron, chef and owner of LA's WOLF and Beefsteak, has the ideal recipe for an afternoon pick-me-up or a morning starter.

"This drink was inspired by one of my trips to Hawaii, and we'd drink it before and after surfing," says Vigneron. It's packed with pineapple and coconut, and the island flavors aren't all sugary sweet, either. "It's full of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties from the turmeric and black pepper." The black pepper and turmeric work in conjunction to bring out more of turmeric's benefits. "It's a perfect example of food synergy," he says. "There's also ginger, which I like because it adds spiciness, and it has a lot of beneficial properties too." (For more, check out these healthy ginger recipes.)
