Lindsey Vonn Reveals Why She's Proud of Her Scars

Lindsey Vonn is known for being refreshingly honest about her struggles with body image and self-confidence off the mountain. And now, the 32-year-old Olympic skier is continuing to spread body positivity by proudly showing off a long scar on the back of her right arm.

"My scars remind me that I am strong and beautiful," she captioned the photo, which features the athlete in a gorgeous form-fitting Giorgio Armani dress from outside the designer's Milan Fashion Week show.

The scar is the result of an emergency surgery that Vonn underwent last November, after a serious crash while training at Copper Mountain in Colorado that left her arm severely fractured.

"While I am beyond frustrated by this latest setback, at least my knees are ok and I will return to the slopes as soon as possible, as I always do! Thank you for the continued love and support, it means so much to me," she wrote at the time. "I don't know why these things happen to me but I know I am a fighter and I refuse to let it bring me down! I will never give up!" she added on Twitter.

Since then, Vonn has shared her journey to recovery, and was back on the slopes the following January after 300 hours of physical therapy, proving that anything is possible if you just put your mind to it. Here's hoping we see more empowering photos like these.
