11 Amazing Homemade Face Scrub Recipes

  • Anti-Aging Yogurt Scrub

    This scrub is packed with rejuvenating ingredients that Dr. Rachael Eckel, dermatologist at ZO Skin Health, says reduce redness, minimize pores and improve wrinkles.

    You’ll need:

    • ½ cup organic plain yogurt
    • ¼ cup oatmeal
    • 1 small-to-medium-size carrot, finely grated
    • 2 vitamin E capsules

    Once the yogurt, oatmeal and grated carrot are mixed together, poke the end of the vitamin E capsules and squeeze the oils into the mixture. Rub this scrub on the face for 60 seconds or leave it on as a mask for 20 minutes before rinsing with warm water.

  • Sea Salt and Coconut Oil Face Scrub

    Coconut oil works wonders for moisturizing the skin. Roxanne from Laced Ivory shows how to make this pretty pink face scrub by combining this beautifying oil with Himalayan pink salt.

  • Cucumber Sugar Scrub

    Amber, also known as the Barefoot Blonde, loves this scrub because she says the cucumber helps to soothe skin and mint leaves wake her up in the mornings.

  • Bubblegum Lip Scrub

    Here’s a scrub for soft, kissable lips. Eckel says to leave this scrub on the lips for five minutes for a lasting rosy hue.

    You’ll need:

    • 1 tablespoon white sugar
    • 1/3 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
    • 1/3 teaspoon. strawberry extract
    • 2-3 drops rose pink food coloring

    Stir white sugar, olive oil, strawberry extract and pink food coloring together. Eckel says if the final consistency is too oily, add more sugar, and if too dry, add more oil. Massage on lips for one minute twice a week.

  • Honey, Lemon and Sugar Face Scrub

  • Almond and Honey Face Scrub

    Aimee from Clones N Crowns says this almond and honey face scrub is the easiest DIY beauty product to make and recommends using almond powder in place of sugar as the exfoliant to create a gentle scrub.

  • Acne Face Scrub

    Eckel says aspirin is outstanding at drying up blemishes because it contains salicylic acid and witch hazel, which work together to tighten pores and wick away oil.

    You’ll need:

    • 5 uncoated aspirin tablets
    • 1 teaspoon witch hazel
    • 1 teaspoon honey

    Crush the aspirin tablets in the witch hazel and then combine those two ingredients with honey. Organic plain yogurt can be substituted for the honey if you are looking for more exfoliation.

  • Whole Foods Market

    Apple Crumble Face Scrub

    Kristen Arnett, founder of and beauty contributor for Whole Foods Market, came up with this beauty scrub which doubles as a yummy apple crumble recipe.

    You’ll need:

    • Half an apple, any variety, roughly chopped
    • 1/2 cup oatmeal
    • 3 tablespoons crushed walnuts
    • 2 teaspoons raw honey
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • Juice from 1/4 lemon
    • 2 teaspoons raw turbinado sugar

    Using a food processor is the best way to mix the apple, oatmeal, walnuts, raw honey, cinnamon and lemon juice together into a thick paste. Add the raw turbinado sugar to the scrub right before applying the paste on the skin.

  • Pumpkin Spice Facial Scrub

    Pumpkin is rich in vitamins A and C and is loaded with zinc, which Kristin from Live Simply says provides the skin with healing and age-fighting antioxidants. Check out this easy-to-make and heavenly smelling face scrub made with sugars, pumpkin spice and vitamin E oil.
