Anybody who eats less than 1600 calories hasnot been completely educated about your body's needs. You may survive off of 1200 calories, but your body will make adjustments that aren't necessary. You can eat a healthy amount of calories and still lose weight. Your body is equipped to deal with "starvation mode" which is what happens when your caloric intake is that low.The question is not about "survival" but about proper care of your body.

? You're 5'2 and need 1800 calories? Are you kidding? I'm 5'8 and I have been eating 1200 calories to lose weight (healthy calories) and I'm "alive" and doing VERY well, with gym activity everyday.
