Is It Normal to Feel Bloated After Eating?
Answer: Eating too much too fast could cause bloating and abdominal discomfort. "However, if you experience bloating after every meal, it could be the result of gastrointestinal disorder," warns Lucinda A. Harris, MD, senior associate consultant at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona. Some food components, like lactose in milk, gluten in wheat products, and fructose in fruit, can cause stomach upset and bloating. In rare instances, abdominal distention can be a sign of ovarian cancer. "It's always wise to discuss symptoms like these with your doctor," says Dr. Harris.
