The Fit Girl's Guide to Telluride, Colorado
All the sporty adventures, fine dining and fun activities you can find year-round at one of the best active getaway locations in the United States.
Hey, Fitness readers, it's editorial assistant Lauren here. I'm in Telluride for the weekend. Come along for the ride. Tucked away in Southwest Colorado's San Juan Mountains, the quaint historic town of Telluride is a destination for snow bunnies, culinary enthusiasts, and adventurers. The old mine town's mountain offers over 2000 skiable acres with 127 trails for beginners and experts alike. Although I'm partial to the [unk], let me tell you, the black diamond glades were pretty rod too. Go gaga over megasized [unk] along a four-miles scenic ride down into town for lunch, or stay on the mountain to explore one of the numerous dining options like Telluride's flagship steakhouse, Allred's, looking at the top of the gondola. And then looking for some fabulous French, Bon Vivant offers a unique outdoor dining experience with 360 degrees of views. After a long day slope-side, what's better than a trip to the spa to work out the kinks? Visit the Peaks Resort for a Mountain Salvation massage and soak in their Roman tub before a night out on the town. Trust me, you won't regret it. One of my trip's other highlights, taking a snow-capped ride up to the tallest restaurant in the country. Sing at 11,996 feet in elevation, the European-style chalet, Alpino Vino, offers savory soups, cheeses and wines and cozy ambiance. Now, that is eating in style. Telluride is home to local fair, incredible shopping, and even brands like Wagner Custom Skis. If you're looking for a ski in, ski out location with breathtaking views and activities year-round, this place is for you. So what are you waiting for? Strap in and glide on now.
