-Hey, Fitness. Deputy Editor, Mary Anderson, here with your Trainer Tells question. This one is from Joanne Crowder (@jhctlc) on Twitter. You asked us, "Is it better to space out strength training or to do it every day?" And we got Hollywood Trainer, Jeanette Jenkins, here to answer it for you. -Joanne Crowder, this is Hollywood Trainer, Jeanette Jenkins, and I am about to answer your question. Is it better to do strength training every day or space it out? Well, of course, what I believe in is cross-training. Not only should you mix up your strength training but you should also mix up the methods of training that you do. It's important to do strength training to get that muscle tone, but it's also important to do yoga and Pilates so that you open up the range of motion of your joints, especially the range of motion of your spine which is going to give you longevity, and then you have to get that cardio also. So, I would say, if you're hitting strength training at least two or three times a week, you're doing a great job. And strength training can be in different forms. You can do a power yoga class where you're pushing and pulling your own body weight. You can do a boot camp class. You can do total body strength training. It doesn't have to be the old-fashioned, traditional, "Let's do arms today and legs tomorrow."
