VISIT FLORIDA Golf Expert, Kevin Kenny, plays the stunning Ginn Hammock Beach Resort's Oceanfront Course in Palm Coast.
Hi, I'm Kevin Kenny, Visit Florida's Golf Expert. And today, we're here at the Ocean Hammock Course designed by Jack Nicklaus, to see what golf along the Atlantic Ocean is all about. The way that Nicklaus made the course wide, but then took away pieces. It's just every time we go out there is a different challenge. A birdie on number 8, that's a good start to the ocean holes here at Ocean Hammock. The number 9 here at the Ocean Hammock Course is a 468-yard par 4. I'm gonna play this hole from the back. It plays parallel to the ocean. The Atlantic is on my right. The prevailing wind will be a little down in right to left. After playing holes 10 through 14 which run inland here at Ocean Hammock Beach Resort, you come through this beautiful little Oak Hammock around to the 15th tee and bam beautiful 450 yards playing straight towards the Atlantic Ocean. With the green perched up on a natural sand dune and my guest is always into the wind. Come over here to the 16th tee, a dogleg left around the lake, but that's not the water I'm most interested in. This is what I'm most interested in, the Atlantic Ocean. Right behind the 16th tee, man what a view. Alright, here we are at the home hole on Ocean Hammock, number 18, a 466-yard par 4 from the back tees that runs from north to south with the Atlantic Ocean hard to my left. And you've got the club house and the lodge and the background just behind the green. Last shot of the day, the approach on 18, well last full swing of the day, I hope. And I got about 210, 215 yards dead into about a 20-mile an hour wind, and I'm gonna use a hybrid now. I carry a hybrid instead of a 2-iron. Hybrid is much easier to hit. A lot more forgiving. The wind is coming out south-southeast so as into my face a little bit left to right. So I aim it down the left center of the fairway. See if can't get out of here with the par or a birdie. The facility itself is quite amazing here at the resort. We have, you know, anything that you could really ask for. You know, 4-star cuisine. Yeah. We have an amazing fancy pool complex and the golf course. Yeah. Jack Nicklaus signature, 6 holes on the ocean. It's something a lot of people rave about, especially when they finish. These greens are as tough as any I've ever seen and I've played. You know, in Hawaii or California, or anywhere that I've been. These greens are-- they're professionals. That's all I can say to them. You'll never know at end which way ball is gonna die. Wow! There's the end of a great day here at the Ocean Course designed by Jack Nicklaus. 18 holes of great golf, right on the Atlantic Ocean, great practice facility, awesome amenities. I've really wanna thank Brad Howard, the director of golf here and his entire staff for hosting us today. I'm Kevin Kenny, you're at visitflorida.com golf expert.
