Hey guys, here we're doing Battle of the Brands. It's gonna be two brands with products that are very similar and then I'm just gonna talk about it, give you the pros and cons---- just kind of talk about both of them, my experiences, in that way you can decide which one you'd prefer. And Battle of Brands---- usually I try to do---- is like a drugstore and like a department store product. Today it's going to be Revlon Colorstay Overtime and the MAC Pro Longwear----
the color. No, it's not really lip-gloss, but it kind of is. So, it's the color. And so, I'm gonna talk about it. The first one here is the Revlon one, and this is Boundless Brandy---- you can see that. And then there's a whole bunch---- I mean, there's a whole bunch of them from MAC one's that I have. So, I'm just gonna pick this one up right here. This one is called in changing, and you can see the very first thing is the size. One is much
larger than the other, it's actually MAC is twice as much the .14 ounces, and this one is actually .07 ounces. So, you can see the MAC one is twice the size and it's almost twice the cost. So, the Revlon one goes for about 9.99 each, while the MAC one is I believe, 19.50. So, it's kind of a toss-up there, it's pretty much even with the pricing for a drugstore versus the MAC one and the color. So, both of the
brands have very neutral colors, things like bridal colors where it's a gloss, a little creamy little coral, more natural. And they should just kinda look like this. So, here's a couple of them that I have here so you guys can see their range. So, this is kind of the range that you're looking at for both of the brands. Sometimes MAC will have like a special one like this one right here, which is like a limited edition---- I don't think you can get that anymore. So, as far as color options go they're both pretty similar. You can get this on a MAC and you can get this one at, like
any drugstore and things like that. The next thing is pricing. So, I have 2 purchases out of buy 1 get 1 free. So, it was like 5 dollars, and then this one was 19.50. And then if you could have a MAC Pro card then it's 40% off or 30% off or 60% off depending on what you do for a living. So, that kind of is a toss-up too depending on who you are, what you do, what kind of discount you can get, but if you're not a make-up artist then you're gonna be paying 19.50. So, in that area
the Revlon, when on sale, is a better price. Now what do these two products do? So, I love the Pro Longwear for MAC because it's great for like---- I wear one every day, maybe every other day MAC's because it is drawing---- like we put it on all the time. So, what it is, this one side is color and you just paint that on, it has a doe-foot applicator. And then when you let that dry---- it takes about a minute, it doesn't sting or anything it's almost like a paint. And then next when it dries you're gonna put on that clear coat,
you're gonna have to put on the clear coat because if you don't, it's gonna have like a little bit of a---- the sticky texture and it's gonna dry. So, then you seal it off with a little bit of gloss. The only gloss that you can use is this one that comes with it. And there's a couple of other ones that you can use without it peeling. If you try to use like your favorite gloss? It's gonna start peeling and rolling and it's not pretty. So, I recommend---- if you're gonna try that out, try it at home before you go anywhere, because if you do you're just gonna get like little runs and it's just not cute. Okay, so for the Revlon it has the exact same
style applicator---- again like I said it's very similar colors there, you know, it's kind of like a bridal. And this is perfect if you're a bride, and you're looking for some color then I recommend, you know, getting one of these, preferably the MAC one. So, we're gonna go on to that right now. Alright, pros and cons. So, as far as the textures go, I feel like the MAC one dries a little bit cleaner where you can feel that there's something on your lips, but it doesn't feel sticky. The Revlon one feels a little bit sticky, and so you have to finish it off with the gloss on top
for you to feel like: okay, this is like complete. And so, I actually wore this today, like my final review. I went and I had burgers and fries, and I had a blizzard after that. And this actually came off, and I noticed that too. With the Revlon, it doesn't last as long, it starts to peel and it starts to look like you're wearing like a hot pink lipstick or something like that. And then it kinda gets little edges, like around. So, it defeats the whole purpose of the whole overnight, you know, longwearing
lip color. If you're not eating oily foods like I did today, you're much better off. And then that brings me to the point of how to remove this. So, throughout the day you put on your gloss---- I'm trying to think of like the here---- but throughout the day, you're gonna put on the gloss and you feel like it's dry or it's kind of going away. I mean, it---- to some people they're gonna feel like, well why do I need this overtime long lasting color? Well, the thing is like you can just put it a little real quick, you know? You don't need a mirror or anything like that. You just kind of put a little top of gloss and you're done. And then
kinda move on with your day, you know? You don't have to look in the mirror, you don't have to really perfect your lips or anything like that if you do that once in the morning. Same thing, you know, both of the same things they kinda look like this. And also, Revlon also has this one called the Colorstay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick. Very similar idea, you know, the same type of color. There's all different kinds I---- alright, there you see, it's all like in that same family of neutrals. Again, this one doesn't have any exciting colors either,
it's very neutral. This one is 10 dollars; this one is---- I don't know what size this is but it's much larger. And the thing is they market this as---- you just need this, so you don't need anything else. But the weird thing is that the texture is kinda dry and kinda sticky-ish, but like, you're---- like you feel like there's paint. Think of---- like, you know, when you actually get whiteout on your hands, there's something in---- it's like kinda crackly. It's kinda like that on your lips until you put on a gloss on top but, the thing is you have to put on the special gloss. So, you can either buy like a
lip one or use one of these, something like that. . The next thing---- I'm just kinda all over like this one---- is that the Pro with the MAC one is that you can---- these are interchangeable. So, you can actually purchase another one of these, like in---- maybe like this frosty kind versus like the clear, and you can swap them out. Or maybe you want 2 colors, you can just swap them out---- can't do it right now, but you get what I'm saying right? Just 2 different colors. With the Revlon, you can't. And when you go to the MAC's store, you can actually like, test out
the colors, you can put it on your lips, you can come back, you know, and you could see which one works best for you. With the Revlon one it's all sealed, shrink wrap and you just kinda have to guess which color you want and then hope for the best. But pretty much they all really look very similar to this. As you can see I've done a couple of swatches here, they look very very similar. You know, it's like, if you're used to the color and you know what you're looking for then you can just kinda go in and pick something that looks very similar to your chosen color. So, to wrap
this up, I like the MAC Pro one because I feel like that one does last a lot longer. It doesn't peel when you eat a lot of oily food, when you a little fries, and it kinda like sits on your lips, you know, the oil---- so then it breaks down. So, I recommend the MAC one because that does last a lot longer. You do get more---- I mean, if you like name brands, and you're the MAC one is---- other brands do this too, but I just decided to go with these two because I'm most familiar with these two. If you are looking to buy the Revlon one, I recommend the sheer color one, which I use all the time but I can't find it of course
when I did the video. And it's like a sheer tint color. So, I think those little tints and stains that are really popular now? And that one works really well, because it's like---- if it goes, the whole thing goes off, your lips and comes off, and then you can just reapply it. And it's not as obvious like this one---- like the on there. So, there it is that's---- this is 10 dollars, this is 19.50. Overall, MAC wins because it does last longer, doesn't peel on my lips, there's options and you can actually go in there and try the textures. Thanks again for joining me.
And see you guys next time on Battle of the Brands, bye. For questions, is this gloss sticky? Yes, they're both sticky, they're not like extremely sticky, but it's like middle ground sticky. How do I find the right color? That's one of the things where you just got to try out different colors to find out what works for you. I personally like them all, but I really like the ones where they have like, the frosty color on this side versus the clear. But----
and I only really recommend purchasing this if it's on sale. I am wearing the Revlon Boundless Brandy on my lips. Theme sung by Classic Master.
