descriptionStep by step demonstration for eyeshadow similar to Carmen Electra. Toned down for daytime wear. Tips for pursebuzz.com
-Hi there, welcome to pursebuzz.com. Today, we're going to be working on our makeup tips on how to achieve that perfect look. Have you ever followed through a magazine and said, "I wanted that look"? Well today, I did that when I saw this add for Carmen Electra's MAX Factor, if you can see it there. I'm gonna zoom in a little bit. Of course, we're gonna alter it a little bit 'cause we can't look like this ad in public. We're gonna work on it and make it a little bit more
public friendly. So first thing we're going to do is we're going to be putting our eye shadow base. I'm gonna be using a frosted base 'cause I want that shiny frosted look. I'm gonna be using MAC Lune. Of course, you can do it with any other base that you like, but base is very important for that color pigment to stick. And I'll put this on my eye all over, all the way up to my eyebrow, making sure that this color matches your skin as much as possible 'cause when you do put the eye shadow color that you
want, it doesn't alter it. Gonna put it on like this, all the way up to the brow bone. It's all over like that. Okay. And then the next thing we're going to be doing is we're gonna put the lightest color that we'll be using on our eyes. So, what I've chosen is the MAC Nylon. It is also frosted, and MAC calls it a frost. That's what it is.
And I'm going to be using this brush, the 239. It's a thicker, shorter, brush, so that we can apply our eye shadow. So, I'm gonna do this. Just gonna apply it real quick. You're gonna rub it in with our clean fingers. Always wash our hands and brushes before we use them. Blend it into our base
like this. And the next color I'm going to be using is a little bit of a darker, not exactly dark, but darker than our base. Just a blue, it's a Chill Blue. I'm just gonna use the same brush here, put a little bit on our brush, and we're gonna put this all over our eyelid here. I tend to---- I like to use my finger in to blend, but, you should always get into the habit of using our brushes.
Work on it today. Let me get that, gonna---- a little bit here. Sometimes, when you have dark eye shadow, you wanna use a lighter eye shadow under it so that it does lighten that eye shadow. The greatest thing about MAC eye shadows are the color that's in the pot is the color that it can show out, just depending on if you have a heavy eye shadow hand. It's kind of like a heavy salt hand. Okay.
And the next thing I'm going to be doing is we're going to do the outer edges. What I've chosen here is Kicky Blue. It's a MAC color, but you could use any metallic turquoise that you like. Then, we're gonna try to achieve this look right here. We're gonna tone it down just a bit. I've also chosen the MAC 224 brush. The bristles on here are looser, so it only picks up a small amount of pigment.
So, it's great for during the day. So, what we're gonna do is just dab a little bit. Always remember to tap on your brush to get that excess dust off like I've done. And, you're gonna work on the outside in, into the lash crease line, into the crease line like this, down into the crease. Okay. So, we're gonna just continue to blend it in,
gonna pull it all the way to our inner eye like that. Normally it wouldn't maybe with another color, but since we're going for the, once again, Carmen Electra look in this magazine, you're gonna keep going. We're gonna do the same thing with this side. I'm just gonna keep going like this so that we can press on. All right. The next thing we're going to do is I really hate this
and this being such a sharp line. You don't like the hard lines. What I like to use is a MAC pigment called Naked. You can get the full size but this is actually the holiday version. We can use the first brush that we used called the 239. Stick it in here a little bit, just dab a little up here. We're just gonna go right above that line. We're gonna try to avoid all hard lines,
like so. You can see what I'm doing there. Looks good already. Okay. Now, what we're gonna do is we're gonna do the liner of our eye, and what I like to do is use the exact same eye shadow for my eyeliner so that it matches. So what I'm gonna do, I'm gonna use the MAC 266. I'm just gonna put a little pigment. Always remember to tap your brush.
Tapped it a little too hard, but let's see here. We're gonna put on our bottom of the lid, yup, definitely tapped it too much, like so. And everyone likes to open their mouths when they do this 'cause it stretches out the skin right here and give it just enough room for us to put the liner. Okay. We're gonna do the top going---- it is an angled brush so we're gonna---- I kinda use my
face to balance my hands and they're not shaking. Okay. Next is we're still working on the liner here. I've actually moved on to the other eye. See if we can do that real quickly, like a recap. I'm just gonna put the turquoise down here. We're doing a little bit pass the halfway point, just a little bit right here; doing the top, same thing. I like to go only halfway again,
but we'll do a little more since we're following a magazine photo. Okay. Next, I have to clean my brush a little bit. We're going to use that Nylon that we used earlier for the inner part of your eye, like that, just a little more up here. Don't worry about mistakes with all makeup. We'll just have to use another brush to correct it. That's all.
So, what brush do I like to use to blend and correct is the MAC 219. Here, it's got denser bristles and a little bit pointy so that we can just blend, blend, blend all over. We're almost done. One more step is our mascara. What I like to use is the Clinique Primer. You put that on the top lash. What I like to do is when I have it on,
I like to wait just about a minute so it could dry off, then I put on my black mascara from root to lash tips, all the way to the top, like that. Let's wait a little bit. And we're gonna use our mascara. Any choice of mascara is fine, and I like to use the Clinique Lash Doubling. When I purchased it, I like to angle my brush like that 'cause I didn't like to curl my eyelashes with a lash curler. A little phobia
but either way, like that, just push up. And then, we do our bottom lashes. You don't wanna do too much on the bottom, just gonna kinda rub it in for a little color, like that. And there we go. We are all completed with our Carmen Electra look toned down for daytime.
Thanks again for joining us at pursebuzz and hope to see you soon. Thanks! Bye!
