Hawaiian Smoothie

From: EatingWell

For the best taste and color, use a red-fleshed Hawaiian papaya for this exotic, lip-puckering taste of island summer. Papayas are loaded with papain, a digestive enzyme, so this smoothie is a good dessert to settle stomachs after a substantial meal.

Servings: 2 servings, 1 cup each
Prep: 10 mins
Total: 10 mins
Rated : Not yet rated
1 cup  chopped fresh pineapple
1/2 cup  chopped peeled papaya
1/4 cup  guava nectar, (see Ingredient Note)
1 tablespoon  lime juice
1 teaspoon  grenadine, (see Ingredient Note)
1/2 cup  ice
1. Place ingredients in the order listed in a blender. Pulse three times to chop the fruit, then blend until smooth. Serve immediately.
Ingredient Notes: Grenadine is a red syrup (originally flavored with pomegranate juice) used to color and flavor drinks. Look for it in the bar-mix section of your supermarket.
Guava nectar is available in most markets, with the juices or in the Latin American section.

I'm guessing that this recipe was extracted from a different collection of smoothie recipes, several of which are pictured here. Since nothing I make ever looks like a photo, I just follow the recipe and hope for a great taste.

I haven't tried this, but try: 1/2 banana (or 1/2 cup of strawberries) 1/4 cup orange juice 1/4 cup low fat plain yogurt Splash of vanilla 1/2 cup of water. If you want it thicker, add 3/4 cup low fat plain yogurt and don't add the water. ^^

I agree that the picture might be misleading, but anyway itīs just for illustrative purpose. As long as the recipe is understandable, I donīt see what the problem is.

the yellow one has a mango slice stuck in it, i'm guess it's just mango, the pineapple has grenadine for the red, the green is just kiwi, and the guava is the purple-ish one. the colors represent what they'd look like if each fruit was made separately. not accurate based on recipe!

I am guessing adding the grenadine will make the red color..without it would be orange. Not sure how they obtained the yellow. Not well written or explained.
