1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a 9-by-5-inch loaf pan with cooking spray.
2. Sift together flour, baking soda and salt. In a large bowl, beat eggs, sugar, banana, buttermilk, oil and rum until evenly blended.
3. Beat in flour mixture until just blended. Stir in figs and walnuts.
4. Pour into pan and bake 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack 10 minutes. Remove from pan and finish cooling on rack.
