The Best Fast-Food Salads
Drive-Through Dos
Some fast-food salads pack more fat than a cheeseburger. FITNESS advisory board member Dawn Jackson Blatner, RD, chose these healthy meals for their high flavor and low saturated fat. Use the calorie-cutting tips to achieve nutrition counts listed.
At McDonald's: Premium Bacon Ranch Salad with Grilled Chicken
345 calories, 16.5g fat, 5.25g saturated
Bacon makes it seem naughty, but the portion keeps it nice -- if you use only half the dressing.
At Wendy's: Mandarin Chicken Salad with Grilled Chicken Fillet
385 calories, 18g fat, 2.25g saturated
Almonds supply lots of crunch, so nix the noodles and use half the Oriental dressing.
At Burger King: Tendergrill Chicken Garden Salad
390 calories, 20g fat, 4.5g saturated
Three cheeses and garlic croutons -- yum! Just opt for the light Italian dressing.
At Taco Bell: Chicken Fiesta Taco Salad
420 calories, 16g fat, 5g saturated
Say adios to the tortilla shell and this cheesy bowl becomes a safe bet.
At Quiznos: Black & Bleu Flatbread Salad
340 calories, 10g fat, 5g saturated
Skip the flatbread, and this stick-to-your-ribs salad (steak and blue cheese!) gets a thumbs-up.
