She Knows What Works

We asked Ben if Brooke picked her own outfits: "She had a lot of input and ultimately we narrowed it down together," he said. "She definitely knows what she likes and what works with her body."

Maybe a Sweater Would Help

"Originally we set up right down on the beach, but the wind coming off the water was downright arctic!" says Ben. "So we had to move up closer to the house so Brooke didn't freeze over." (Left to right, Brooke with cover shoot photographer Andrew Eccles, and Ben, on the phone. Who are you talking to Ben?)

Warming Up with a Good Friend

"Andrew and Brooke have worked many times together and they are old friends," reports Ben. "It was a very relaxed set and Brooke even stayed after the shoot was over to hang out with Andrew and the crew."

Eccles Surveys the Next Shot

Will moving the shoot to the deck work? Eccles surveys the shot. (That's Ben again on the left. Is he thinking about the clip-on koala bear he sold to Brooke when he was a kid? More on that later.)

In the Shade, but Totally Hot

Looks like moving up on deck paid off! By the way, our inside sources revealed that Brooke ate a simple spinach salad with grilled chicken on the set.

Down in the Sand

Back down on the beach. Ben told us that Brooke was a real trouper. "She was totally professional and no matter how many times I asked for one more shot she just kept smiling."

Love That Top!

This outfit didn't make the cut in the magazine, but we love the blue and white print, not to mention the way Brooke is just exuding confidence here.

Brooke in Black and White

We loved this natural shot of Brooke. And if you're wondering about the clip-on koala bear reference, we finally pulled it out of Ben:

"When I was in high school my family owned a gift store in New Jersey. Brooke frequented the shopping center with her mom since she grew up in the area. One Saturday I was working and she came in with her mom and bought a clip-on koala bear (they were big in the '80s). At the shoot, I couldn't resist telling Brooke the story. She laughed and told me she still had the koala bear clipped onto a basket in her childhood bedroom at her mom's house!"
