Alison Sweeney, Host of "The Biggest Loser"

Alison Sweeney, the new host of the hit TV show and Sami Brady on Days of Our Lives, is already a Big Loser. In 1999, she dropped from a size 12 to a 4. Here, Alison, 31, tells how she did it -- and dishes about the show.
What's new on The Biggest Loser this fall?

We've shaken up the formula. One of the biggest changes: We're not at the ranch. We also have the oldest contestant ever, and there's a tremendous amount of weight loss right from the start.

You lost a lot of weight yourself. How did you do it?

Mostly by being honest about what I was eating. When I started to catalog my food, I realized I was filling up on carbs and sweets. Now salad is my favorite healthy food, though I do still love pizza!

What makes you feel most body-confident?

When I'm proud of how I'm living. Sometimes it's fun to have dessert or sleep in and miss a workout. When I choose healthy food and exercise, I always feel better for it.

What's your workout routine?

I try to fit in at least three days of cardio a week and two or three days of resistance training or yoga. I have little rules for myself. I'm not allowed to watch Grey's Anatomy or The Office unless I'm on the exercise bike or the treadmill.

Are you inspired by the contestants on the show?

The 18 men and women have lost an incredible amount of weight, and they're so supportive of each other. It makes you root for them.

What's your best piece of weight-loss advice?

Do it for yourself! It you're trying to lose weight for your husband or mother, it won't work. Make your goal to be healthy, not skinny.
