I am that fool you see jogging on the street when the windchill is negative 10. I just can't seem to embrace the treadmill! When I'm on one I just stare at the time praying for my 45 minutes to be over...and I usually give up after about 25 minutes.
If I'm outside, though, I just go until I'm home. There's no choice! I can't just stop or I'll be far from my finish line. So outside it is, even on chilly winter mornings.
But that said, I hate running with cold hands or ears. I mean I hate it. So I always have my hat and gloves on. All was fine until a few years ago, when a new problem arose. I have always been someone who needs to run with music. I know it isn't the safest thing, but I am hooked and that's that. But when it's cold out, it is impossible to change the volume on my iPod without taking my gloves off. So I wind up ripping a glove off me, freezing my little fingers off, and trying to adjust my iPod super fast. Well I must not be the only one with that thought, because 180s (an awesome gear company if you haven't heard of it) has come out with a pair of gloves that let you work your mp3 player without taking them off. How crazy is that! They have made the fingertips of the glove thinner and added gel to them to mimic the feel of skin on the iPod's dial. The rest of the glove is super warm.
My hands applaud them.
