Locker-Room Hair, Skin, and Makeup Fixes

Do the not-so-pretty results of exercise -- red cheeks, wrecked hair -- prevent you from working your butt off? No more excuses! Fitness guru Denise Austin shares how to fix every post-workout disaster.
Problem: Ponytail Crease

Pro Fix: To prevent a ridge from forming mid-length, pull hair into a high ponytail and secure with a fabric holder instead of a tight elastic. "When you take hair down, it'll have extra volume," says Austin.

Problem: Flaky Skin

Pro Fix: Avoid deodorant soap during your post-workout shower. Opt for a gentle body wash or simply rinse with water (try PhysiClean Total Physique Shampoo and Body Wash, $20, physiclean.com).

Problem: Flushed Cheeks

Pro Fix: Tone down red cheeks with a blast of cool air from a blow-dryer, then apply moisturizer to soothe skin (try Avene Eau Thermale Avene Sicalsate, $18, at CVS stores). "Skip foundation and let your natural rosy glow shine through," says Austin.

Problem: Melted Mascara

Pro Fix: Remove smudges with cleansing cloth (try Pond's Exfoliating Clean Sweep Cucumber Cleansing Towelettes, $5.99, at drugstores). "Then curl lashes to revitalize the mascara that's still on," says Austin.
