Waking up on a chilly morning tends to make me veer towards the comfy section of my closet (i.e. sweatpants, sweatshirts, cozy slippers and a warm blanket). But then reality sets in, and unless it’s the weekend when I know I can bum around the house all day, I realize that I can’t head into work in my sweats. Considering I work in the fashion department, it just doesn’t seem appropriate!
Jeans and a cute top or sweater are usually a staple for me during the colder months, since wearing dresses during November through February screams freezing legs, especially here in the Northeast. For the days that I am feeling ambitious though, my go-to dresses are usually sweater dresses. They are comfy, cozy, warm and usually incredibly versatile. I like to wear mine with colored tights and boots, but below are some ideas on how to take a simple sweater dress (I chose this super cute grey Brochu Walker dress, but I’m also digging this one, and this one!) and style it three different ways!
Feeling Fancy. Pair your dress with cute printed tights, like these star-printed ones (I love them!), and a cool pair of wedges. And for some extra glitz, add a sparkly headband or necklace! This look is perfect for those days that you wake up for work feeling like you want to shine, and also for a fun party or night out!
Forever Funky. Layering is a great way to change the look of your sweater dress. Whether it be a grandfather sweater, a cool bolero or this adorable 1970s inspired vest, you can make your dress look like a totally different piece. Throw on some flats (metallic is hot this season) and some cool bracelets and you are ready to go!
