When times get tough and days are busy, we often turn to workouts to blow off some steam. While a heart-pumping kickboxing class or treadmill speed session can be just what you need, sometimes an hour of peace helps boost your mood and re-center your mind.
On Wednesday, June 20, calm your mind for the annual Solstice in Times Square: Athleta Mind over Madness event. There will be free classes throughout the day in the hub of New York City, beginning at 7:30 a.m. and ending at 8:30 p.m. Don’t worry about fighting your way through the train with a yoga mat either—the first 1,500 participants of each class will receive a mat. That’s 13 hours of Om-tastic fun, not to mention Athleta fashion shows and giveaways sprinkled in for good measure.
The yoga village will also provide one-on-one yoga instruction, and a chance to participate in Athleta’s live streaming video and meet Athleta brand ambassadors.
So if you find yourself in the Big Apple during the Summer Solstice, consider this a free, one-day pass to tranquility. Pre-register for the session that best suits you, and let the age-old practice prove that meditative breathing, fluid movements and internal quiet can overcome external noise.
