Danielle over at Eat, Sweat, Smile caught our attention on Twitter when she posted pictures of these delicious salmon cakes after trying them out one weekend. We love her fun posts on quickie workouts and good-for-you recipes. Here she talks about working out to Miley Cyrus (hey, she’s on our playlists too!) and the great feeling you get after completing a tough workout.
I’m happiest when I’m: In the “afterglow” stage after a really sweaty, challenging workout. Even though it it isn’t exactly comfortable when you’re pushing your limits, it always feels great when you’re done. On the exact opposite of the spectrum, I love reading a really good magazine.
My fave fit snack: 0% Greek yogurt with almonds, raisins, honey, banana and cinnamon. I have it every day for a snack and I’m pretty sure I’m addicted.
My biggest indulgence: If you put good chocolate in front of me, it doesn’t stand a chance.
Most embarrassing song I’ll admit I work out to: I have been known to work out to some of the songs on “Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus”—yep, that’s right. I listen to Miley Cyrus!
My fitness mantra: “Get it girl!” and “You can do anything for one minute.” It really helps me get through hard workouts.
My “I Did It” moment: Completing the San Francisco Triathlon at Alcatraz last summer—specifically the swimming portion. Even though I’d completed an Olympic distance triathlon before that, the prospect of jumping off of a boat in the middle of the San Francisco Bay and swimming over a mile to shore seemed daunting. Even though the bike and the run were challenging, I definitely had an “I DID IT!” moment when I touched down on shore, which made it much easier to get through the 30 some-odd miles that were left to go in the race. It made me realize that I was much stronger than I thought I was.
