As much as we aspire to do a full sink face wash every evening, more often that not (OK, most nights) we end up relying on cleansing towelettes in our end-of-day delirium. The best of the best (and inexpensive, to boot) are Yes To Blueberries Travel Cleansing Towelettes. We love that this weightless little pack can go anywhere with us (you can buy a 30-count full-size too) and that the supersoft wipes are infused with gently brightening apple and lemon peel extracts. The towelettes themselves are biodegradable, so you don’t have to worry about waste, and unlike others, they remove eye makeup without any stinging or burning.

Do good while you wash up with soaps from Hand in Hand Sustainable Suds and SoapBox Soaps. Similar to the Toms Shoes “One for One” credo, for every soap purchased from these brands, one is donated to a child in a developing country to prevent the spread of water-related illnesses, which kill more than five million people per year worldwide. And you’re not sacrificing quality for conscience: The hydrating glycerin and shea butter-based bars come in sophisticated, fresh scents like orange blossom, lavender and lemongrass.

We’d always been indifferent to shaving creams— until we found one that could double as body wash: Eco-Armour Shaving Foam & Body Wash in Soothing Citrus. The fluffy, light as air formula comes in an easy-to-use pump bottle, rather than a bulky can, and is based on a cocktail of natural ingredients like coconut oil, glycerin and aloe that leave skin smooth. And we can’t get enough of the refreshing bergamot and grapefruit essential oil-derived scent.
Tell us: Do you use a shaving foam, cream or gel? If so, what’s your go-to?

We’ve always loved bar soaps in theory, but they tend to leave our skin a little too squeaky, and, well—dry. But not the Out of Africa Organic Shea Butter Soap in Vanilla that recently came across our desk. When we sudsed up, it had the creamiest feel and left our skin silky, thanks to a 20% pure shea butter base, and only four other ingredients: olive and palm kernel oils, vanilla essential oil, and water. The faintly sweet, warm vanilla scent has us addicted, too. As simple—and skin-loving—as soap gets. Do you wash with bar soap? If so, what’s your go-to?

Some of our beauty habits might sound innocent enough, but can really do damage over time. Here’s a list of pesky habits that we should all kick:
- Hair fiddling: This one might be the hardest to break, since we don’t always notice ourselves doing it. People tend to play with their hair—twisting, bending, and even breaking it—out of boredom or to just to keep our hands busy. But, this seemingly harmless habit can lead to breakage, tangles and oily strands.
- Popping pimples: We know how tempting it is to attack a blemish that’s taking over our face—but doing so can cause serious scarring and even spread pimple-causing bacteria (plus oil from your fingers) around the face. Attempt to banish acne before it even forms with ZENO Hot Spot Blemish Clearing Device.
- Sleeping with makeup on: Cleansing our faces is often the first thing that falls by the wayside at the end of a busy, exhausting day. But not washing leaves pores clogged with leftover makeup, dirt and sweat—which leads to dull and break-out prone skin. Keep cleansing wipes like biodegradable Yes To Cucumbers Natural Glow Facial Towelettes on your nightstand so you never forget to wash up before you doze off.

Thanks to brutal winds and bitter cold in New York City this week, our skin has taken a beating. It feels dry, tight and uncomfortable—and doesn’t look much better! Our saving grace? Slathering Nude Skincare Cleansing Facial Oil on our face during a warm shower: We leave it on to dissolve the day’s grime as our skin drinks up the omega oil and vitamin E-based formula. The luxurious texture and light, creamy jasmine scent makes a regular shower feel like a spa experience. How do you keep your skin comfortable on the coldest days?
