The Makeup Must-Haves in My Gym Bag

Going home after the gym to get ready for a night out isn’t always an option, but looking good after your sweat session doesn’t require a complete makeover! For those quick changes, I keep these essentials stashed in my gym bag.

Smashbox Sheer Focus Tinted Moisturizer blurs any imperfections and redness while lending a touch of glow. It’s lightweight, so I don’t look too “made up” after a workout.

NARS The Multiple in Orgasm smudged on eyes, cheeks and lips gives a flattering, flushed look. Monochromatic makeup (using the same shade on each feature) is a no-brainer: It looks chic, fresh and pulled-together in seconds.

I finish off my look with a few coats of  L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Naturale Mascara to make my gaze look wide-eyed and natural. These three little items take me from postworkout to a night out fast!

Favorite Find Friday: NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencil in Goddess

There aren’t many products that earn permanent real estate in our makeup bag, but NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencil in Goddess is one of the lucky few. We use the chubby champagne pink eye shadow stick every morning to brighten the inner corners of our eyes— detracting from dark circles and making us look refreshed— and blended under our brows to instantly lift and conceal any strays. It can also be applied all over the lids or close to the lashline for an illuminated look in seconds. And it really lasts: We’ve been sharpening the pencil for years and still have half of it left!

FAIR: You can pull off a bright pink, such as cult classic NARS Semi-Matte Lipstick in Schiap.

MEDIUM/OLIVE: Go for a juicy tangerine or coral hue like Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture in (13) Le Orange.

DARK: Choose a brown-based brick red such as Bobbi Brown Lip Color in Burnt Red.

Most important of all: Find a hue you truly love, and you’ll have the confidence to rock it. And remember to turn down the volume on the rest of your face (read: keep your eye and face makeup neutral), since you want your lips to be the star. What’s your favorite bold lip look?

Many women would be offended if their beau gave them makeup for Valentine’s Day. I can just hear the mental dialogue: “Does he think I’m ugly?”, “Is he not attracted to me?”, “Have I let myself go?” However, I would personally love a little V-Day pick me up for my makeup bag.  After all, isn’t Valentine’s the one day of the year a girl gets to be pampered and treated like a goddess? Nobody wants to be dry and scaly on V-Day. Kiss Me with Kiehl’s is my pick to ensure silky skin for the big night! The set includes the super-delicious, sweet-scented Soy Milk & Honey Body Polish.
