For the first installment in our new Staffer Beauty Snoop series, we asked art department intern Abby Silverman to spill the beauty products, tips, and tricks that she can’t live without. Here’s what she said:
Describe your beauty style in three words or less: “Trendy, bold, glamorous.”
What are the three beauty products you can’t live without? “MAC Cosmetics Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15, Marc Jacobs Lola Perfume and Maybelline New York Colossal Volum’ Express Mascara.”
What’s your beauty routine in the morning? “When I get of the shower I always brush my teeth and apply moisturizer to my face and body. Then I do my hair, and last, I apply my makeup.”
At night? “I use Neutrogena Deep Clean Makeup Remover Wipes for my face as well as Neutrogena Eye Makeup Remover with cotton balls to remove eye makeup. I follow with a face wash and finish off with Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer.”
Post-workout? “I typically wash my face before I work out because I like to feel refreshed and ready to go. If I don’t wash my face pre-exercise, I always wash it after because I don’t like leaving sweat and makeup on my skin.”
What beauty product or treatment instantly makes you feel good? “I absolutely love getting my nails done. When I look down at my hands and see perfectly polished nails it makes me feel girly, clean and put together! When I don’t get my nails done, I have a secret obsession with painting my nails. I probably paint them every other day.”
What’s the best beauty tip you’ve ever received (or thought of yourself)? “If you’re trying to grow your hair out, it’s better to get it regular trims every two to three months rather than waiting to get it cut every six months. If you don’t cut your hair, it will cut itself!”

Spring is (finally!) in the air, and there’s no better time to splurge on a special new scent. I’ve gathered a few of my current favorite spring-ready spritzes that combine lush florals like jasmine, gardenia, and even lilies for an invigorating effect.
- Chloé Rosebud This classic fragrance has top notes of freesia, pink peony, magnolia flower, lily of the valley, and, of course, rose. Plus, the limited edition bottle is decked out in a pretty pink bow for spring.
- Marc Jacobs Splash in Cranberry is part of the limited edition splash scents collection (which also includes Ginger and Curacao). This crisp scent is inspired by a sweet cocktail on a summer day, and contains notes of pink grapefruit, cranberry and tangerine. (Anyone else thirsty?)
- Bvlgari Mon Jasmin Noir This elegant eau de parfum is positioned as a lighter addition to the Jasmin Noir line of fragrances. Its seductive blend of jasmine and wood notes lasts all day on the skin.
- Flora Eau Fraîche By Gucci is a more fresh and playful version of the original Flora By Gucci. The aroma is very fruity and an ideal spritz for those who prefer cleaner floral scents.
What’s your favorite scent for spring? Will you be splurging on a new fragrance?

It typically isn’t appropriate to start your day off with a cocktail, but Marc Jacobs is about to change that with his fresh new spring fragrance line. The limited edition Marc Jacobs Splash Cocktail 2011 Collection includes three fruity new flavors, but our favorite is the Cranberry concoction. The Cranberry cocktail is an ideal light and invigorating scent for spring. The key notes in our new favorite fragrance are a juicy mix of pink grapefruit, cranberry pulp, tangerine, honeysuckle, and exotic woods. I know you might be skeptical about smelling like a cranberry, but believe me—this chubby little bottle will win you over with just one spritz!
