Starting today through December 15, $1 from the sale of each Mary Kay Limited-Edition Beauty That Counts Creme Lipstick will support The Mary Kay Foundation, which grants funding to women’s shelters across the country (they’ve donated $25 million since 2000!). Choose from—or all—three shades (from left): Give Hope, a golden rust red; Give Dreams, a bright pink; and Give Joy, a creamy peach . An easy, pretty way to sweeten your smile—and help save lives.

Yesterday we had the pleasure of sitting down with Mad Men star Christina Hendricks in her Manhattan hotel suite to discuss everything from lipstick to that gorgeous pale skin (she’s absolutely stunning and so sweet in person!) to her workout regimen. Hendricks is supporting the Latisse Wishes Challenge, which allows consumers to donate a minimum of $20 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which LATISSE then matches, working toward a goal of donating $500,000. Take a peek at our conversation:

In preparation for Valentine’s Day last week, I scoured the beauty closet for the best products for my kisser. I’ve glossed, blotted, stained and have finally found the few that gave me the perfect pout.
I admit it: I was afraid of lip stain, but now I want to shout my devotion from the rooftops! My favorite was the Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstain in Wink of Pink. It gives the perfect hint of color that actually lasts the several hours that other lipsticks and glosses boast. Since this product is a stain (so yes, it stains your lips), you need to make sure you pick the right color for your skin tone. Start off with neutrals to be safe, and if you choose something too bright, try layering gloss or tinted balm on top to mute or change the color.
While I went with a stain for a bold punch of color, I loved MAC Cosmetics Pro Longwear Lipcreme in Bare Again for its understated and easy-to-wear tone. It goes on like a lipstick, looks like a gloss and hydrates like lip balm: The lip product jackpot!
Silky Korres Lip Butter is my pick to hydrate winter-worn pouts while providing a brightening kick of color. And the flavors are so yummy that you’ll never got back to ordinary balm again. My favorite: jasmine. Pucker up!

In part two of our behind-the-scenes videos series on the set of our March 2011 “Spring Awakening” feature photo shoot, Mary Kay celebrity makeup artist Ashunta Sheriff shows us how to sport a bold red lip. Watch and learn!

Whether we’re single or attached, we love sporting a bold red lip for Valentine’s Day—the look is classic yet eye-catching and a departure from our normal neutral palette. Our rouge of choice? DuWop Private Red Lipstick, a universally flattering red with the perfect mix of warm and cool tones. We swipe it on lips, then blend with our fingers for a more diffuse finish. Additional proof of its greatness: A fellow beauty editor inquired about what lipstick we were wearing when we wore it last weekend. It also smells faintly sweet and feels soft on lips. Will you wear red lips for Valentine’s Day—or are they part of your regular routine?

Many women would be offended if their beau gave them makeup for Valentine’s Day. I can just hear the mental dialogue: “Does he think I’m ugly?”, “Is he not attracted to me?”, “Have I let myself go?” However, I would personally love a little V-Day pick me up for my makeup bag. After all, isn’t Valentine’s the one day of the year a girl gets to be pampered and treated like a goddess? Here are the beauty buys that are making my heart go pitter-patter this Valentine’s season:
MAC Cosmetics consistently manages to put out stunning holiday collections—and their Tough Love line for Valentine’s Day is no exception. We’ve got it bad for the Lipstick in Girl About Town, above.
In the spirit of indulgence, we’re eager to get our hands on this adorable NARS Forever Yours Limited Edition Eye, Lip & Illuminator Set. The sweet little trio includes a new liquid highlighter, pink lip gloss and eye shadow pencil.
What’s Valentine’s Day with out a little seduction? Every girl needs a special scent to get the night going. On my wish list is rose-tinged Chloe Eau de Parfum Spray.
Nobody wants to be dry and scaly on V-Day. Kiss Me with Kiehl’s is my pick to ensure silky skin for the big night! The set includes the super-delicious, sweet-scented Soy Milk & Honey Body Polish.
In lieu of the candy hearts and chocolate covered what-have-you, I’m asking for a different kind of sugar this year. Butter London has a bold nail color foursome called I Want Candy that will make your heart skip a beat.

We’ve loved Gwen Stefani since we were teenagers: She’s always nailed the balance between being sporty and strong yet still beautiful and feminine. Apparently beauty behemoth L’Oréal Paris agrees, as they’ve just named her their newest spokeswoman. Appropriately—thanks to her trademark rouge lips—she’s appearing in ads for the brand’s upcoming Infallible Le Rouge Lipcolour (which you may have caught during Sunday’s Golden Globes). Congratulations to Gwen!

Bobbi Brown‘s new book Beauty Rules is packed with tips on makeup (of course), skincare and self-esteem. She also interviews models, salon professionals and female athletes—including Morgan Pressel, the youngest-ever winner of a major LPGA golf tournament—to cull their top beauty tips. Here, a few of my favorite pearls of beauty wisdom from the book:
- Healthy is beautiful. Anything that’s good for your body is good for your hair, Bobbi maintains.
- Wear layers. Layer gloss on top of lipstick for a really rich pout.
- Lighten up. Always wear concealer when you use black eyeliner. Otherwise, you’ll wind up looking tired.
- Skip a wash. There’s no need to wash your hair everyday, unless of course you work in a coal mine (or are prone to super-greasy roots). Bobbi suggests cleansing strands no more than every other day: Try out a dry shampoo on the days in between!

Deep, perfect-for-fall plum and berry lipsticks look delicious in the tube—but can be drying and difficult to carry off. Which is why we love H.Wood Beauty Lip Shine Stick in Plum ($16): This lipstick tints lips a luscious sheer blackberry hue, but truly feels like a balm, thanks to moisturizers like mango butter and camellia oil. Bonus: The vintage-looking gold tube is super-glam and fun to pull out of your bag. What’s your favorite lip color for fall?
