If you’ve ever shopped a department store makeup counter, you probably walked away from the chair with mixed emotions: you’re super excited about your hot new look (and beauty loot) but bummed that you might never be able to recreate exactly what the makeup artist did. You tried to pay close attention, we know, but even beauty savvy girls forget where to put what and how much to use. The high fashion cosmetic line, Yves Saint Laurent (YSL), is merging makeup with cutting edge technology to help change all that. Now at select YSL makeup counters across the country, you can—get this—leave your makeup session with a video (it’s emailed to you) of the pro doing your makeup and narrating each step so you have an up close and personal play-by-play that you can watch and copy at home. The email will also include a list of products you with links to buy in case you didn’t purchase them but wish you had. This genius idea is made possible thanks to Google Glass. How it works: the pro wears them while consulting with you and painting your face. When you get home, just press play and there you are–your features (not a model’s or YouTube star’s) so you can watch (pause and rewind) the video, making replicating those smoky eyes, bold brows or bronzed skin totally doable. We love it when beauty and brains combine. For a list of participating locations and news on upcoming events, follow YSL on Twitter at @Love_YSL_PRgirl and Facebook.

Michelle Phan is the most-watched makeup artist on YouTube, as well as Lancôme’s video makeup artist. I love her how-tos and easy-to-follow tutorials, so you guys should check out this clip on easy autumn makeup. I’m definitely going to try the trick where she uses a concealer brush to stabilize her eyelid when she puts on liner and mascara. So genius!
