I mean this in the most humble way possible, but I am constantly asked about what I use on my skin to make it look so “amazing.” To be quite honest, I am always surprised by these inquiries because, like many of us, I’ve struggled with acne for years and am pretty critical of my skin, always wishing it was just a little more perfect, less blemished, more even, with fewer fine lines. Maybe that’s just a byproduct of working in the beauty biz or some leftover insecurity from my teen years, but the best thing about beauty is that it can help you love the skin you’re in. So when a friend of mine recently demanded to know what I put on my face, I gave her (and now you) the full run down. Below, my favorites for pretty, radiant skin:
Beauty Rx Progressive Peel ($70, beautyrx.com)
This at-home glycolic peel sloughs away all of the icky, dead skin that makes your skin look dull. The system includes three glycolic products: an 8% serum, 10% pads and a 15% cream so you can increase the strength over time without causing irritation. I’ve been using this for a few weeks now and it’s been doing wonders for my skin and minimizing breakouts.
Lancôme Teint Miracle Lit-From-Within Makeup ($43, lancome-usa.com)
I started using this glowy foundation years ago after discovering it was a must-have for makeup artists on set and never went back. It’s seriously like a candle light filter in a bottle. The teeny tiny pearl particles (they’re subtle, not shimmery) give your skin a soft radiance.
Tarte Amazonian Clay Matte Waterproof Bronzer in Park Ave. Princess ($30, tartecosmetics.com)
It seems counterintuitive if you want luminous skin, but I opt for a matte bronzer over a sparkling one for the most natural-looking results. The rich brown color gives you a healthy, sun-kissed look. Plus, the longwear formula stays put all day.
Bobbi Brown Blush in Peony ($27, bobbibrowncosmetics.com)
For me, the finishing touch is always a little pop of pink on the apples of my cheeks. This shades flatters most skin tones and gives you a pretty flush.

It’s rare that a facial treatment product produces immediate, noticeable results. Murad Intensive-C Radiance Peel is one of the few exceptions. We smooth the faintly citrus-scented glycolic acid cream-gel over our face, leave it on for ten minutes— you’ll feel a bit of tingling— then rinse to reveal a complexion that’s so vibrant and glowy it’s almost reflective, but with none of the redness or irritation normally associated with peels. Our time-saving trick: Slather it on before you step in the shower so it works while you wash, then rinse before you get out.
Tell us: Do you use at-home peels? What’s your product of choice?

Ladies, we all know how important it is to stay safe in the sun, but who doesn’t want a nice glow? Well, it’s time to kiss the damaging sun oils goodbye and say hello to the myriad self-tanner options on the market. Since choosing among the bounty can be daunting, I put together a list of my favorite options:
BEST INSTANT TANNER: L’Oreal Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Lotion in Deep Natural No need to worry about looking orange with this one; a perfectly bronze shade developed within a few hours.
BEST GRADUAL TANNER: Jergens Natural Glow Foaming Moisturizer This lightweight foam subtly enhanced my skin tone in less than a week—and spread on so easily.
BEST RINSE-OFF: MAC Cosmetics Skin-Sheen Leg Spray When my legs need an extra boost for a little black dress, I spray this transfer-resistant tint on, and it washes off in my next shower.

We all have days when we need something that makes us look alive—fast. A dusting of pinky-peach, slightly glimmery TheBalm Hot Mama! Blush/Shadow does the trick for us: In seconds, we have a healthy, just-in-from-the-outdoors flush, and our bags/dark circles are less noticeable. You can even swipe it on lids and lips for a pulled-together look in a flash. What’s your favorite beauty-boosting product?

I don’t know about you, but all of this snow has me daydreaming about my spring vacation—which is now only a month away! Beach fantasizing has quickly evolved into planning out my beauty essentials for the perfect beachy look: Think small, packable items that pack a big beauty punch. Read on for the products I’m lusting after for the big trip, and steal some ideas for your vacation—or staycation!
Avoid a hairy situation. After a day at the beach, my nicely straightened hair usually expands in size—hello, frizz!—until I’m virtually unrecognizable to my friends. If you’re like me and the sun/sand/salt water mixture leaves your hair in a knot, a hair moisturizer is the only option. I’ll be packing Shu Uemura Essence Absolue Nourishing Protective Oil to keep my hair hydrated (and fuzz at bay), repair damage and shield my strands from UV rays.
Get your bronze on. Fake a believable getaway glow with this shimmery little gem: Smashbox Artificial Light Luminizing Lotion lends sun-kissed radiance while keeping my face moisturized. It’s not full-on bronze, so it works on winter-pale skin.
Get eye-catching color. For a pop of color on top of my newly glowing skin, I’ll be packing Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm. This magic crayon gives an effortless, fun vacation look while also keeping lips soft with mango and shea butters.
Avoid runoff. This trip, I won’t let annoying raccoon eyes put a damper on my ocean dips. I’ll be sticking with super-volumizing Yves Saint Laurent Everlong Waterproof Mascara to prevent the runoff. Bon voyage!

Brrr! You don’t need Al Roker to tell you that it’s COLD outside in most states right now. (Californians, you are all lucky ducks!) In our February issue, we featured treatments to heal your toughest winter woes. Here are a couple of my favorite snow-day tips for looking radiant even when you’re freezing:
- If the skin on your body is parched, try this trick: Once you get in the shower, massage a cream-based cleanser over your skin when it’s dry, not wet. This step prevents the cream from getting too diluted, so that it’s more effective and hydrating. Rinse after about 15-20 seconds.
- To stop your makeup from caking, soften any cream-based concealers or foundations between your index fingertip and thumb before applying. The heat you generate will help it go on evenly. (Chilly temps can harden creamy makeup products.)
- No tropical vacay in site? After applying a peach cream blush to your cheeks, pat a little above each eyebrow’s arch, then blend. This will give your face a little sunkissed glow and warmth.

Chilly temps and gray mid-January days can sap the glow right out of your skin. Our complexion-reviving secret weapon: Philosophy The Color of Grace Shimmering Face Powder We dust the softly gleamy pink powder over our cheekbones to catch the light and on the rest of our face for a soft-focus, touched-by-candlelight finish. How do you keep your skin glowing through winter’s dreary days?

Something about the chilly fall air gives us a hankering for rosy, flushed cheeks. Our favorite way to fake them (when we’re not working up a natural glow at the gym)? LORAC Blush in Desire, a true pink that looks bold in the pan, but goes on sheer thanks to a touch of glimmer. We’ve been wearing this shade for years, and have never gotten so many compliments on a cheek color. What’s your favorite way to blush?
