Describe your beauty style in three words or less: Less is more!
What are the three beauty products you can’t live without? Aveeno Cleansing Pads, DDF Aloe Toner and moisturizer.
What’s your beauty routine in the morning? The three products above I use in the morning and night. I never switch it up! If it works, why change it?
Post-workout? I usually let my hair air dry after working in a bit of anti-frizz cream.
What beauty product or treatment instantly makes you feel good? Washing up before bed. I am known to take a really long time. I love to feel really clean before bed, so I wash my face for like 20 minutes!
What’s the best beauty tip you’ve ever received (or thought of yourself)? I have seriously sensitive skin, and I used to try lots of new stuff, just for fun. I would always be allergic to it, however, which is no fun! Now I know just to use what works.

This week, Fashion Assistant Marla Horenbein spills her no-fail beauty finds and secrets.
Describe your beauty style in three words or less? Easy breezy!
What are three beauty products you can’t live without? I am totally addicted to my CHI Flat Iron without it, my hair would be one frizzy, curly mess! I also can’t live without my Neutrogena Makeup Removing Wipes. I love how clean they make my face feel, even before I wash it. And to keep my summer glow year round, I rely on my Too Faced California In A Compact Bronzer.
What’s your beauty routine in the morning? I wash my face, then apply a face and body moisturizer to keep my skin feeling soft and smooth. I usually spray some dry shampoo onto my hair to give it a fresh boost and then run my flat iron over any stray strands. After I’ve touched up my hair, I usually get dressed and then apply my makeup. Bronzer and blush first, eyeliner and mascara second, and lip balm or gloss third. Nothing crazy, just simple and easy!
At night? Before going to bed, I take off my makeup and hop in the shower (I hate getting into bed feeling dirty!). After my shower I moisturize, then I apply a curl relaxing cream to my wet hair, and twist it into a knot on top of my head so that it doesn’t dry super-frizzy.
Post-workout? It depends on the time of day that I hit the gym. I either shower (if I go early before work), just wash my face (if I go when I get out of work), or wash my face and spritz some dry shampoo onto my hair (if I go on the weekend before running errands).
What beauty product or treatment instantly makes you feel good? Can I name two? I love getting my bi-weekly manis/pedis because they make me feel fresh and polished. I also LOVE getting my hair colored. My family and friends have a joke that I have identity crisis because I am constantly changing the look of my hair!
What’s the best beauty tip you’ve ever received (or thought of yourself)? I have always thought that a smile is one of the most attractive features on a person. That being said, you can’t have a great smile without amazing pearly whites, so I always make sure to brush my teeth twice a day. My grandfather was a dentist, so he used to yell at us if we didn’t brush our teeth. I used to hate it when I was little, but now I totally appreciate him for that!

Describe your beauty style in three words or less: Simple, polished and classic.
What are the three beauty products you can’t live without? Burt’s Bees Herbal Blemish Stick, Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Plumper and MAC Cosmetics Eye Shadow in Phloof!
What’s your beauty routine in the morning? I’m all about simplicity. After my morning cup of coffee, I’ll brush my teeth, style my hair and put on my makeup for the day. I wear MAC’s Phloof! Eye Shadow every day because it is a great soft tone that can easily transform into a nighttime look.
At night? At night, I take out my contacts, brush my teeth and wash off my makeup with water and a gentle soap. I like to use an exfoliator a few times a week and hit any problem areas with my Burt’s Bees Herbal Blemish Stick.
Post-workout? I never feel totally clean after a workout until I’ve used my facial toner to remove all of the makeup, sweat and buildup from the day that a makeup remover may leave behind.
What beauty product or treatment instantly makes you feel good? I instantly feel better after treating myself to a pedicure. I’m constantly in tennis shoes for my workouts, or in high heels for work, so it takes toll on my feet. But once I have a nice soak in warm water and a fresh coat of nail polish on, I’m refreshed and ready to conquer many more miles!
What’s the best beauty tip you’ve ever received (or thought of yourself)? “Less is more.” When it comes to beauty, the focus should be on highlighting what you love most about your look rather than hiding it with tons of products!

In this week’s Staffer Beauty Snoop, we asked Web Editor Colleen Moody (a former beauty editor!) for the scoop on her tried-and-true primping habits and must-haves.
Describe your beauty style in three words or less: Natural, polished and simple.
What are the three beauty products you can’t live without? Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF 15, Garnier Skin Renew Anti-Dark Circle Eye Roller and Maybelline New York Volum’ Express Falsies Mascara.
What’s your beauty routine in the morning? As I’ve gotten older, I’ve definitely adapted to the “less is more” philosophy. In the morning, I use a dab of undereye concealer, do a few coats of mascara and a swipe of bronzer along my T-zone. I work out in the mornings, so I’ll use Pureology Colour Stylist Antisplit Blowdry on wet hair after showering to give myself a quick blowout. Or, if I’m really tired that day I just spray some Oscar Blandi Pronto Invisible Volumizing Dry Shampoo Spray all over, throw it up and walk out the door!
At night? If I get home from work, and I’m in for the night, I’ll wash my face as soon as I walk in the door– I like to let my skin breathe when it can! I’m very big on eye creams, and I’m always testing out new ones. Right now, I love Fresh Black Tea Age-Delay Eye Cream: It keeps the skin under my eyes perky and fresh. Instead of using a moisturizer at night, I use Tarte 100% Pure Cold Pressed Maracuja Oil– it hydrates my skin while I sleep and makes it ridiculously soft!
Post-workout? Again, I’d be lost without my trusty dry shampoo. I have a ton of hair and washing it every time I exercise is not only bad for it but very time-consuming! Like our fitness editor Jenna, I make sure to take off all my makeup before a workout to prevent any breakouts. Afterwards, I’ll splash my face with cold water and moisturize for a quick pick-me-up.
What beauty product or treatment instantly makes you feel good? This is kind of weird – but hairspray! I used to have really short hair (think Rihanna circa 2008) and it’s taken me forever to grow it out. I love that with a quick hair flip and spritz of hairspray you can give your style a boost that looks great all day! Other than that, I’m a fan of a good manicure. I type all day long, so having a pretty pair of nails to look at while I work makes me happy.
What’s the best beauty tip you’ve ever received (or thought of yourself)? It’s important to protect your skin but also your hair! Whether you color it or not, you should never, ever use heated tools like a flat iron or blow dryer without spraying heat protectant in it first. It protects your hair’s health, prevents split ends and keeps your highlights from fading. For those sunny beach days, I spray L’Oréal Paris Everpure UV Protectant to shield my hair from damage from the sun and any other elements. Why spend money on your strands if you’re not going to take care of them?

This week’s Staffer Beauty Snoop is a bit of a twist, as the subject is me—Jaclyn Smock, the new beauty intern for fall 2011. Read on for a peek at my primping rituals and must-haves!
Describe your beauty style in three words or less: Feminine, warm and fresh.
What are the three beauty products you can’t live without? Physician’s Formula Mineral Correcting Powder, blush (right now I’m using Salma Hayek Nuance Blush in Apricot) and Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Perfume.
What’s your beauty routine in the morning? I wash my face with Glo Therapeutics Clear Anti-Blemish Cleanser, then I moisturize with Clean & Clear Finishes Mattifying Moisturizer. Next, I spritz on Skindinavia 10 Years Younger Makeup Finish, which helps set my makeup and control my oil and shine. After I do what I call my “pre-face,” I put on Clinique Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15 and set it with Physicians Formula Mineral Correcting Powder. My skin is very oily so I find that tinted moisturizer works best for my complexion. After my skin tone is evened out, I apply blush, then I add a little e.l.f. Mineral Black Eye Liner on my bottom lids and finish with Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara. Once I’m done with my face, I move onto hair: I work some John Frieda Take Charge Curl Boosting Mousse through my curls, finish with a little bit of TRESemmé Climate Control Finishing Spray, and I’m out the door. This may sound like a lot but it only takes me 15 minutes!
At night? I remove the day’s makeup with Neutrogena Night Calming Cleansing Cloths, wash my face with my cleanser, and top with moisturizer. To finish off my nightly routine, I put Physicians Formula Dark Spot Corrector and Skin Brightener all over my face. The color weirded me out at first (it’s brown) but it really does work!
Post-workout? Once I’m done working out, I head home to shower and wash my face. When I get out, I moisturize and spray Glytone Acne Back Spray on to ensure that I never get bacne!
What beauty product or treatment instantly makes you feel good? Facials—I love everything about them! I have done at-home versions before, but I still prefer a pro facial. I truly believe in monthly facials, if your budget permits. Facials quickly resolve most skin concerns and you leaving feeling so refreshed!
What’s the best beauty tip you’ve ever received (or thought of yourself)? Know the difference between day and night makeup. I believe in light eye makeup during the day then going dramatic at night to really look alluring.

This week, Fitness Editor Jenna Autuori Dedić reveals the secrets to her glowing skin, beachy waves, and how she looks great through the most stringent of workout regimens:
Describe your beauty style in three words or less: Laid-back, natural and über-girly!
What are the three beauty products you can’t live without? Kérastase Aqua Seal Leave-In Hair Conditioner to condition my hair while I sleep; Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Pink Whisper; and any sea salt spray for my hair.
What’s your beauty routine in the morning? If I’m going from my morning SoulCycle class, I have to be quick to make it to the office on time. So I’ll take a quick shower, slather my hair with a Kérastase cream and put it into a high bun to air dry, swipe on a little eyeshadow (always a light pink or light gold), then mascara and eyeliner, and finish things off with lipgloss. Around mid-day, I take my bun down and let my wavy hair loose—by then it’s super-voluminous!
At night? If I’m heading out for a date with my husband or to meet up with friends, I’ll reapply some eyeshadow and spray a light-hold hair spray into my hair to give it some more oomph. I really take care of my skin before I go to bed after I’ve worked out and ran around so much during the day. I always take my makeup off with CVS Cleansing & Makeup Remover Towelettes—they truly make my skin glow. I wash my face with a very sudsy facial wash, and never go to sleep without putting on a nighttime serum (Bliss Peeling Groovy Facial Serum) and cream (Estée Lauder Time Zone Night Anti-Line/Wrinkle Creme). I think it’s really important to stick to your nighttime beauty rituals because your skin repairs itself while you sleep.
Post-workout? Whether I’m working out in the morning, hitting up a gym class at lunchtime, or doing my marathon training run in the evening, I try to take off all my makeup when I work out, then wash my face with cold water afterward and apply a lightweight moisturizer. I always feel instantly refreshed.
What beauty product or treatment instantly makes you feel good? I try to get a facial once a month—I work out so much that I think my skin needs that refresher treatment to wipe away any excess oil, treat any sun spots, even out my skintone and exfoliate like I can’t at home. I love trying new spas as well because it’s fun comparing and seeing what I like best.
What’s the best beauty tip you’ve ever received (or thought of yourself)? Stop highlighting your hair! For years I damaged my hair by making it blonder and blonder (and just trying to keep up with the roots!), and ended up making it extremely dry. One day I realized that I’d forgotten what my natural hair even looked like and that was such a shame! So I stopped everything and went to hair rehab for about a year. Plus, I was working out and training for races so much I kept throwing my hair in a ponytail, so I thought when would be a better time to let myself “go” so to speak. The best thing I ever did was let myself be natural—I’ve never gotten more compliments about my hair and who knew all that was underneath all those treatments I was getting (and money I was spending). Stop fighting the beauty you were given: Embrace it! And I have to thank Butterfly Studio Salon in New York City for helping me love what I have and teaching me how to have healthy hair.

What’s your beauty routine in the morning? I run product through my hair after I shower and let it air-dry while I whip up a quick and healthy breakfast. By the time I’m finished, it’s still damp enough to style with the blow-dryer in less than 10 minutes. A quick swipe of mascara, eyeliner, and blush and I’m on my way!
At night? I try to put in a bit more effort for a night out on the town by adding some waves to my hair with a 1 1/2 inch curling iron, a smoky eye, and a hint of bronzer.
Post-workout? I usually work out at night so afterward I just wash my face and apply moisturizer before bed.
What beauty product or treatment instantly makes you feel good? By the end of a long day I feel like most of my makeup has worn off, but adding just a touch of Smashbox Blush makes me feel instantly more presentable for happy hour!
What’s the best beauty tip you’ve ever received (or thought of yourself)? SPF, SPF, SPF! While it’s really nice soak up the sun at the beach, it’s totally not worth having leathery, wrinkled skin when you’re older! Thanks to Lancôme Flash Bronzer Anti-Age Sunless Face Tanner/SPF 15 Moisturizer I protect my skin AND get a subtle glow.

What’s your beauty routine in the morning? I put my makeup on while my hair is still wet to save time and let my hair air dry as much as possible to save it from the blowdryer. I like an easy, fast routine.
At night? Before bed, I wash off all my makeup and put on moisturizer.
Post-workout? I don’t like when I see girls with caked-on makeup at the gym. I want my skin to breathe, so I keep my face clean while I workout and wear only sunscreen. Afterward, I jump in the shower.
What beauty product instantly makes you feel good when you use it? A light-textured lip gloss like Lancôme Paris Juicy Tubes Lip Gloss. Anytime I’m nervous, like before a date or special event, I put on this gloss and it instantly makes me feel sexy and more confident.
What’s the best beauty tip you’ve ever received (or thought of yourself)? Don’t wear mascara at the beach or pool: Raccoon eyes are not attractive!

Describe your beauty style in three words or less: Grown-up girly
What are the three beauty products you can’t live without? Mascara, face serum, and lip gloss.
What’s your beauty routine in the morning? Monday-Friday: The works…shower, makeup, hair! I hate not feeling polished and ready for the work day. If it’s the weekend though, then all bets are off.
At night? It varies. At the very least, a quick face rinse. At the most, some serious anti-wrinkle cream, head-to-toe moisturizer, maybe some eye cream, etc. I have no idea what I’m going to do if/when I live with a guy and he finds out my secrets!
Post-workout? I haven’t mastered the post-workout glow like our editorial assistant, Karla Walsh. I usually get so sweaty that I absolutely have to take a quick shower.
What beauty product or treatment instantly makes you feel good? Nothing beats a good scalp massage at the hair salon. Ahhh.
What’s the best beauty tip you’ve ever received (or thought of yourself)? Whatever’s wrong, don’t touch it. Have a zit? Hands off! Itchy bug bite? Don’t scratch! Hang nail? No pulling! Keep your grubby little hands off your beauty problem, until you can deal with it the right way.
