While you’re on the hunt for the perfect new spring lip shade, help bring beauty back into the lives of women who are in the hospital with Burt’s Bees’ ‘Hive with Heart’ campaign. From now until June 30th, for every two lip products purchased, Burt’s Bees will donate two of the same products to the Lipstick Angels, a nonprofit that provides patients and seniors with makeovers to remind them they are beautiful no matter what they’re going through. Founded in 2012 by celebrity makeup artist Renata Helfman, the Angels use all natural and healthy products intended to improve the physical and emotional well being of the people who use them. The campaign teamed up with Anna Kendrick for its launch, providing a day of makeovers for City of Hope patients to show firsthand how a little bit of makeup can boost morale and directly relate to the recovery process. You can learn more about the campaign, buy products and even dedicate your purchase to a loved one on the Burt’s Bees website by clicking here.

Who hasn’t belted out the lyrics to Carly Rae Jepsen’s Call Me Maybe at some point? The rising star found mega-fame with her debut single and has been rising up the charts ever since. I got the chance to chat with her about a recent partnership with Güd, a natural beauty line from the makers of Burt’s Bees, and what music gets her heart pumping during her favorite workouts (hint: it involves stadium stairs).
Tell us about your partnership with Güd.
“Basically, I was kind of won over by the slogan, ‘happy is beautiful.’ I love the idea that Güd products are natural, and they aren’t harmful to the environment or animals. All of those things just reassured me, and I knew that when I was choosing a partnership, I wanted to pick something that felt like a product I had grown up with, and I have grown up with Burt’s Bees, so Güd just felt like the best of both worlds.”
What’s your favorite scent in the line?
“Pearanormal Activity. It’s more subtle than the other ones, but I feel like I can wear it everyday.”
Why are natural products so important to you?
“I just grew up with them. My mom’s kind of a hippie at heart and she has always hammered home the fact that your body is a temple, and all that kind of stuff. I think you grow up and you get fed a whole bunch of different ideas about what it takes to be beautiful, and I personally love the idea that natural is beautiful. Doing stuff that isn’t harmful to yourself is the number one most important thing in my books.”
What are some of the best beauty tips you’ve picked up from photo shoots and red carpet events?
“There are a few things that I’ve fallen in love with. For one, there’s this little bun thing that’s called a bun donut, and it’s a really simple way to put your hair up. You just wrap your hair around it and have a perfect bun. It’s super easy to do. I’ve also learned to love fake lashes. When it’s a red carpet event especially, it’s fun to play with fake lashes. And then CND Shellac (prices vary, cnd.com for salons) nails are my favorite because I play guitar a lot, and when I get a manicure, it’s ruined five minutes later. Even though it’s a little rough on the nails when removing, every once in awhile I go and get Shellac instead because I know my nails will be prettier for longer and I can play as much as I want!”
Singing while dancing on tour takes a lot of stamina. How do you stay in shape?
“One of things I used to do when I was on the Justin Bieber Tour was run. When I was looking at the stadium and figuring out what I was going to do in my hours before meet-and-greet time, I decided to start running the stairs. My security guard and I would get in running gear and run the stairs of the stadium, which was cool for two reasons: it gets your butt in shape, but it’s also a way to get perspective and be like, ‘Wow, someone’s going to be sitting up here!’ I need to make the show big enough to reach them.’”
What songs or artists do you listen to when working out?
“I listen to Robyn—she has my favorite workout music.”
Your debut single, Call Me Maybe, was a huge success. What’s that one song right now that you just can’t get out of your head?
“There are a few songs that I love right now. I like the new Miley Cyrus single, and I like ‘I Love It’ too by Icona Pop. I’m a big fan of Fun too; I think they’re pretty rad. I love all of their music.”
Tell us about your new single and collaboration with Nikki Minaj.
“It was a really cool partnership! I love working on projects with someone I typically wouldn’t. We come from two totally different worlds, so it was fun for that reason especially. I was really happy that she agreed to be on the track, and I think it wasn’t totally done until she added her verse to it.”

Not a winter goes by that we don’t find ourselves sniffling and sneezing, so we scoured the beauty closet for head-clearing solutions. Our first find: Burt’s Bees Therapeutic Bath Crystals, bursting with eucalyptus oil. A steamy hot bath with these citrusy salts relieved our stuffy nose, but the aroma is concentrated, so sprinkle sparingly. Bonus: The eucalyptus will also help relax sore muscles.
After a soak in the tub, we slathered on our second discovery: C.O. Bigelow Lotion Mentholus NO. 002 , laced with skin-soothing oat extracts and scented with a bracing mix of peppermint and rosemary essential oils. Apply directly after your bath for the best results—the steam lingering in your bathroom will give you a final sinus-decongesting boost.

Last week, we had the privilege of chatting fitness and beauty with gorgeous supermodel Veronica Webb, who’s currently training for the New York City Marathon next month, running on behalf of AIDS-focused healthcare non-profit Harlem United. We also discussed her role as fashion director in the U.S. launch of Sector Watches. Take a peek at our conversation:

In this week’s Staffer Beauty Snoop, we asked Editorial Intern Alyssa Belanger (a former Miss Teen Tennessee International) to spill the products and tricks that keep her looking gorgeous.
Describe your beauty style in three words or less: Simple, polished and classic.
What are the three beauty products you can’t live without? Burt’s Bees Herbal Blemish Stick, Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Plumper and MAC Cosmetics Eye Shadow in Phloof!
What’s your beauty routine in the morning? I’m all about simplicity. After my morning cup of coffee, I’ll brush my teeth, style my hair and put on my makeup for the day. I wear MAC’s Phloof! Eye Shadow every day because it is a great soft tone that can easily transform into a nighttime look.
At night? At night, I take out my contacts, brush my teeth and wash off my makeup with water and a gentle soap. I like to use an exfoliator a few times a week and hit any problem areas with my Burt’s Bees Herbal Blemish Stick.
Post-workout? I never feel totally clean after a workout until I’ve used my facial toner to remove all of the makeup, sweat and buildup from the day that a makeup remover may leave behind.
What beauty product or treatment instantly makes you feel good? I instantly feel better after treating myself to a pedicure. I’m constantly in tennis shoes for my workouts, or in high heels for work, so it takes toll on my feet. But once I have a nice soak in warm water and a fresh coat of nail polish on, I’m refreshed and ready to conquer many more miles!
What’s the best beauty tip you’ve ever received (or thought of yourself)? “Less is more.” When it comes to beauty, the focus should be on highlighting what you love most about your look rather than hiding it with tons of products!

We took a Spin class last week with fellow FITNESS editors, which made us wonder what beauty goods they tote along with them. Here’s the one product that never leaves these FITNESS ladies’ gym bags:
- “Lip balm! My lips tend to get dry during my workout, so lip balm keeps them kissable. I love Burt’s Bees Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil- it smells delicious!” —Theresa K. Brady, editorial intern
- “La Fresh Instant Body Soother Wipes—they’re the perfect way to cool off and freshen up right after a workout. I wipe one over my neck, face, and shoulders for a quick pick-me-up, and keep a stash in my purse for sticky summer days.”—Colleen Moody, web editor
- “Neutrogena Deep Clean Sport On-the-Go Cleansing Wipes take up no space in my gym bag, thanks to individual packets. I use one wipe before and one after my workouts.”—Amanda Downs, beauty intern
- “Face moisturizer—gyms usually have body lotion, but not the good stuff for your face! It also helps with clearing off any leftover eyeliner if the shower didn’t do the trick.”—Mary Anderson, deputy editor
- “I can’t head to the gym without my Dove Clinical Protection Visibly Smooth Antiperspirant/Deodorant Solid in Wild Rose. It keeps me smelling fresh without the clumpy residue.”—Lauren Cardarelli, editorial intern
- “My face lotion! After a sweaty SoulCycle session, I always need to jump in the shower and rinse off. I don’t go anywhere without my La Roche-Posay face lotion with SPF. It’s smooth, light, and comes in a nice travel size. “—Jenna Autuori, fitness editor

Our pasty limbs have just recently been exposed to the light of day after months of hibernation, so we’re relying on shimmery Burt’s Bees Radiance Body Lotion to impart the subtle (and sun-free!) glow our skin is missing. We smooth a bit of the fast-absorbing formula over our bare legs and arms before stepping out the door: Mineral mica in the lotion reflects light, blurring imperfections. We love that it’s less commitment that a sunless tanner, and there’s no risk of staining clothes. How do you prep your body for its summer reveal?
