Bobbi Brown‘s new book Beauty Rules is packed with tips on makeup (of course), skincare and self-esteem. She also interviews models, salon professionals and female athletes—including Morgan Pressel, the youngest-ever winner of a major LPGA golf tournament—to cull their top beauty tips. Here, a few of my favorite pearls of beauty wisdom from the book:

• Healthy is beautiful. Anything that’s good for your body is good for your hair, Bobbi maintains.
• Wear layers. Layer gloss on top of lipstick for a really rich pout.
• Lighten up. Always wear concealer when you use black eyeliner. Otherwise, you’ll wind up looking tired.
• Skip a wash. There’s no need to wash your hair everyday, unless of course you work in a coal mine (or are prone to super-greasy roots). Bobbi suggests cleansing strands no more than every other day: Try out a dry shampoo on the days in between!

Michelle Phan is the most-watched makeup artist on YouTube, as well as Lancôme’s video makeup artist. I love her how-tos and easy-to-follow tutorials, so you guys should check out this clip on easy autumn makeup. I’m definitely going to try the trick where she uses a concealer brush to stabilize her eyelid when she puts on liner and mascara. So genius!
