New Year’s Eve gives all women an opportunity to be bold—so why not make a statement with your makeup? To create a simple yet dramatic look, we love the combination of a matte red lip and false eyelashes. For that kiss (we hope!) at midnight, stick to a lip stain instead of lipstick and your pout will last into 2011!
Our picks: Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstain in Cherry Pop and Revlon Fantasy Lengths False Eyelashes in Intensifying. Happy New Year from FITNESS!

Mascara and exercise can be a tricky combo—sweat and water can melt away volumized lashes in a flash. Waterproof mascaras can be a pain to get off after a workout, so what’s a girl to do to maintain beautiful lashes at the gym? A new salon service called Lash Dip might be the answer for an active woman’s lifestyle. Each lash is coated with a jet-black sealer that holds for six weeks through water, sweat and tears, giving the look of mascara-ed lashes without the goop. Would you try this new lash treatment?

Holiday travel can be ultra-stressful, so I put together your ultimate beauty packing list for your next vacation. If you’re like me, you’ll probably be taking planes, trains and automobiles between now and New Year’s, so here’s a picture of what I packed on my last vacay.
*An SPF with antioxidants, such as Clinique Super City Block SPF 40
*Bronzer, like Dior’s Matte Bronzer that also has sunscreen
*Eye shadow (I’m obsessed with CoverGirl‘s new two-in-one sticks that save space and give you tons of different looks)
*A highlighter or luminizer, such as NARS The Multiple in Copacabana (use it on your cheekbones or swirl a tiny dab into your foundation for an instant glow)
What do you guys travel with? Am I missing anything on this list? Safe travels and Happy Holidays!! -Eleanor

Scott-Vincent Borba, the creator of the Borba skincare line, has released a book complemetairy to his skincare line. Skintervention focuses on “feeding” your skin from the inside out through different foods and products. Borba discusses in his book about turning a session at the gym into spa time with smart, multi-tasking tips to help you get the most out of your workout. Borba suggests:
- Wear a hair mask while exercising to achieve silky strands post-workout
- Apply a clear anti-aging or acne mask which will create a thin film to keep nutrients on your face
- Bring treated towels to the gym so that every time you wipe your face, you will be applying a solution to open pores
- Always carry antibacterial wipes to prevent the spread of bacteria from your hands to your face
- Drinks lots of water infused with nutrients and electrolytes

We recently chatted with country singer Faith Hill about her newest fragrance, Faith Hill True, her favorite beauty products and tricks for on-the-go, and her stay-in-shape secrets. The scoop:
FITNESS: How does your new fragrance, True, differ from your first fragrance?
FAITH HILL: “My first fragrance had several notes in it that reminded me of growing up in Mississippi, such as magnolia. I wanted to keep this one fresh and clean and current…I really liked the yuzu, lily and gardenia notes.”
FITNESS: What kind of woman is True made for?
FAITH HILL: “It’s made for every woman. Whether you work in your home, outside of your home, in sweats or a suit, everyone can wear it. I wanted the fragrance to appeal to all women.”
FITNESS: How and when do you wear fragrance? What’s the best way to wear it?
FAITH HILL: “I wear fragrances every day. It’s like a part of my outfit. I wear it with sweats, casual or dressed to go out. It completes my outfit.”
FITNESS: How do you take care of your skin and hair on-the-go?
FAITH HILL: “I try to keep my skin clean and moisturized. On my hair, I use a leave-in conditioner most of the time when I’m not working. I also drink lots of water.”
FITNESS: How do you keep yourself in shape with your busy lifestyle and while you’re on the road?
FAITH HILL: “I have to schedule workout time or I simply will find an excuse to not workout. I’m doing the Tracy Anderson method right now and I love it. I don’t get bored as easily because of all the movement involved in her program.”
FITNESS: What are your favorite beauty products for after your workout and for carrying with you when you’re on-the-go?
FAITH HILL: “I always clean my face after my workout. I use Obagi cleanser and sunscreen. When I travel, I do the same treatment, just with more moisturizer and I drink loads of water.”
FITNESS: What workouts do you do regularly?
FAITH HILL: “I used to run, however, now I enjoy a brisk walk for 2-3 miles, in addition to the Tracy Anderson method.”
Faith shares her workout playlist in the Fit Life section of our January issue, out next week!

Bobbi Brown‘s new book Beauty Rules is packed with tips on makeup (of course), skincare and self-esteem. She also interviews models, salon professionals and female athletes—including Morgan Pressel, the youngest-ever winner of a major LPGA golf tournament—to cull their top beauty tips. Here, a few of my favorite pearls of beauty wisdom from the book:
- Healthy is beautiful. Anything that’s good for your body is good for your hair, Bobbi maintains.
- Wear layers. Layer gloss on top of lipstick for a really rich pout.
- Lighten up. Always wear concealer when you use black eyeliner. Otherwise, you’ll wind up looking tired.
- Skip a wash. There’s no need to wash your hair everyday, unless of course you work in a coal mine (or are prone to super-greasy roots). Bobbi suggests cleansing strands no more than every other day: Try out a dry shampoo on the days in between!
