"I Wish I Weren't Busting Out"

As Rachel Cooper puts it, "my DD boobs could be more beach appropriate." She doesn't buy styles with underwire, because "they look matronly." But what seems okay in the dressing room often turns "truly tragic," she admits, after a dip in the water. "I've even popped out of my top."

Keep "the Girls" in Line

Our fix: a halter-style bra with full coverage but a thin, sturdy strap. A little shirring on the sides adds polish. "What a difference the dainty strap makes," Rachel says. "Now I'm fully supported and I feel sexy."

On Rachel: Malia Mills Rachel top, $150, and Low Rider bottom, $125, maliamills.com

Get the Lift You Need

Choose a top that's adjustable. Halters, which tie in the back, offer the exact amount of lift you need.

No Spills

Make sure you're not spilling out. Like a tummy hanging over a waistband, breast "overflow" is simply not hot.

What Not to Wear

Skip flared tankinis and high necklines. Both cuts make your upper body appear larger.

I got a great-fitting bikini top at athleta.com - they're owned by Gap and Old Navy. I got their twistini underwire top, which comes in up to DD sizes. I'm a 34D and it's very supportive. The straps are adjustable and they'll let you exchange sizes, styles, etc, until you find something you like, but they're definitely made for us busty girls.

anon.. where do you have the swimsuits made? I am a 32F. This year I bit the bullet and bought a Panache one piece that I love but it was $112.00 Getting one custom made would be great so I wouldn't have to do trial and error online. I've been wearing Panache and Anita bras for about a year now and I wouldn't go back.
