Why Do I Get Headaches While Running?
I started running about 2 weeks ago. I noticed that I get really bad headaches after I run. What could be causing that? I can only run for about 5 min, then walk fast, then run again for about 4 min, hen rest again by walking. I can do that for 25 to 45 min. I notice everytime i can run for a longer period of time, but I still get headaches, that's when i have to stop running

I also had the same problem, but only with one of my new jogging shoes. This was designed in a way that while running it also give pressure / support to the middle lower part of your feet(at the curve of the feet) while the other shoes dont have this functions. so when ever I run wearing this new shoe , it gives a pressure on each step at my head and it was like killing after 4-5 min running. I changes the shoe and now I am normal.

I have had the same problem ever since I can remember and still have them to this day. I've been to neuro docs(told me not to run-EVER) had stress tests done(told me I was normal) tried adjustments from numerous chiropractors(helped a little) and even tried acupuncture. Nothing seemed to get rid of them. I learned to just grin and bear it and pray that I don't tip over and die or something. I hope you have better luck than me with this problem and share so I can finally run pain-free.

I had a similar problem. Whenever I would do an intense workout, especially a long or fast run I would get terrible headaches that would last the rest of the day. I talked to my doctor and she told me that there are three common causes for this kind of headache. Drinking caffeine at any point in the day before a workout, not getting enough water during the day or during a workout, and not having eaten recently enough. Cut out the caffeine, drink a lot, and eat a snack 30 mins before workout.

I have sinus problems, which affects my breathing. I had no idea what was causing my headaches and dizzyness until I spoke to my doctor. If you are resting, you're slowing your breathing, and getting deeper more oxygenated breathes. Once I took something to reduce the swelling in my sinuses, I could breathe better, and had fewer issues. Not sure if it relates to you, but it helped me.

perhaps you should try lower impact exercises to condition your body for running. and you should be hydrated and fueled before exercising.

Track how much water your drinking you should drink at least 8 big glasses a day and even more when exercising in heat. You could be dehydrated.

There is a conditional known as "exertional headache." It is linked to heavy exercise. They are usually benign and are linked to a possibly having inherited a susceptibility for migraines. However, the medical community does recommend checking with your physician to rule out any other possible causes.
