Cutting Back on Preservatives

All of my favorite foods contain preservatives. Should I try to cut back?

A few preservatives have raised concerns. Sulfites can cause severe allergic reactions in some people, and nitrites have been linked to cancer. Both are widely used and considered safe by the FDA, but if you want to limit your exposure, check labels and pass up items that contain nitrites or any of the following: sulfur dioxide, sodium sulfite, sodium and potassium bisulfite or sodium and potassium metabisulfite.

if you think you may be allergic to something you are eating and you eat a lot of processed food a doctor may be able to give you an allergy shot to see if that is causing it.
