Trigger Foods

When cookies are anywhere near me, I just lose all self-control. Help!
Submitted by FitnessEditor

Look at it this way: At least you've discovered your "trigger" food. Having a single Oreo might take the edge off for some, but for others (like us, during a deadline), that strategy can backfire. "The only effective solution is to make desserts off-limits," says Ruth Frechman, RD, a spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association. That means keeping them away from your desk, out of the cupboard and, hopefully, off your mind. If you start daydreaming about desserts, distract yourself by doing something physical, like crunches in front of the TV or a game of tag with the kids, suggests Frechman.

Unfortunately, I can't have just one cookie so I keep them out of my house. If I absolutely MUST have one then I buy just one at my favorite deli. I'd rather enjoy one really good cookie than 5 tasteless sugar-free cookies. My go-to sweet, but healthy snack is sugar-free jello with strawberries, blueberries and blackberries with a touch of light coolwhip. It's tasty and won't make me feel guilty afterwards!

I struggle with this! there's a recipe on 101cookbooks.com for an eggless, flourless, and butterless cookie that is actually GOOD for you! also, strawberry sorbet (made from freezing, then pureeing strawberries) with some dark chocolate chards..mmmmmm.

I'm a choc.chip craver. I recently tried making the decision that ...if they are there all have 1-3 depending on size. BUT I won't buy them- b/c i won't pay money to get fat =) Maybe its silly but little things like that help me G'Luck!

I have been working on my weigth issue for over 1 1/2 yrs. I started at 270 and I currently weigh 189. I feel like I have lost my will power. I have tried the putting the dollar in the bowl everytime I work out but I feel tired.

I always find that eating some fruit instead will make you feel full enough that the craving disappears! Everyone knows how it feels to be so full that you can't eat anything else!
